Why in News?
The Union Cabinet has approved to the continuation of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Scheme.
- PM Kisan is a Central Sector scheme with 100% funding from Government of India.
- Operational from – 2018.
- Incomee support – Rs.6,000/- per year in three equal installments will be provided to all land holding farmer families.
- Direct Transfer – The fund will be directly transferred to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.
Continuation of the PM-KISAN Scheme
- Implementation Period – From 2026–27 to 2030–31
- Financial Outlay – Rs.3.15 lakh crore over five years
- Objective – To provide direct income support to farmer families through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
- Achievement – Rs.4.47 lakh crore has been transferred across 23 installments.
- Significance – It facilitates timely investment in seeds, fertilizers, irrigation, and machinery, and reaffirms the government's commitment to enhancing farmer prosperity.
