LOKAYAN 2026 – INS Sudarshini

Why in News?

Recently, INS Sudarshini sailed into New York Port, to represent India at the United States International Naval Review 250 and Sail4th 250 celebrations.

• LOKAYAN 2026 – It is the Indian Navy’s landmark 10-month, transoceanic global expedition featuring the Sail Training Ship (STS) INS Sudarshini, spans 13 countries and 18 ports.
• Aim – Strengthen maritime cooperation, build international goodwill, and deepen engagement with partner navies.

• Sail 250 Maryland and Airshow Baltimore – It is a massive, week-long maritime and aviation festival celebrating the 250^th anniversary of the United States.
• Participation – INS Sudarshini joined the Parade of Sail along the Hudson River, flying the Indian Tricolour past the Statue of Liberty.

Barque – A sailing vessel with atleast 3 masts.

Mast – It is a tall vertical pole extending from the ship's keel or deck.
