Dree Festival

Apatani community celebrated “Dree Festival 2026” in Daporijo recently.

• It is an agricultural festival of Apatani tribe of Arunachal Pradesh.
• Celebrated Annually on – July, majorly in Ziro Valley.
• Motto – "Our Culture, Our Identity".
• Objective - To seek blessings from traditional deities who reign over agricultural prosperity and protect from pests and diseases.
• Features –
  • Traditional folk dances (like Daminda), songs.
  • Community feasts, games.
  • Sharing of local food and rice beer.

Apatani Tribe

• Apatani (or Tanii) tribe – They are indigenous community residing in the Ziro Valley of Arunachal Pradesh.
• Population – Around 26,000.
• Faith – They follows an animist religion centered on the worship of the Sun (Ayo Danyii) and Moon (Atoh Piilo).
• Uniqueness
  • Physical Adornment - Women wear prominent nose plugs (yapi hu) and facial tattoos (tapi ajii).
  • Traditional village councils - Bulyañ.
  • Cultivation – They rely on sedentary wet rice farming system that maintains soil fertility (Unlike shifting cultivation).

MSDE extends registration deadline for Navachar mantra recently.

Pink Flamingo Revolution

• It is an ongoing environmental and anti-government uprising in Albania.
• Began in – May, 2026.
• Sparked by – Luxury tourism and resort development on Sazan Island and Narta Lagoon (wetland area - home to flamingos).
• Course of action – Protesters adopted the pink flamingo as their mascot and symbol of wildlife.
• Significance – It evolved into nationwide protests demanding government transparency and the resignation of PM.

India will chair the 9^th Session of the Intergovernmental Group of Experts (IGE).

SOLVE (Sub-Orbital Launch Vehicle for Experiments) Solid Motor

Recently, ISRO successfully completed the 1^st ground test of the SOLVE solid motor.

• SOLVE Function –
  • Carry crew module to an altitude of 10-17 km before separating.
  • Sequence of 10 parachutes deployed to slow the module down for a safe splashdown after separation.
• SOLVE Solid Motor – A key component for conducting Gaganyaan test missions.

• Purpose – To validate the Gaganyaan crew module's parachute deceleration system under varied conditions.
• Significance – It provides flexibility in conducting Gaganyaan test missions simulating actual mission.

Recently, Australia won the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
