Context
- Beyond the Prescription – Healthcare needs extend far beyond medicines; they encompass surgicals, consumables, and day-to-day care management products.
- Life-Cycle Approach – The scheme addresses changing health and financial needs at every stage of life—from the arrival of a newborn to the care of aging parents and dependents.
- The Burden of Care – Welcoming a new life or caring for bedridden/dependent family members brings immense joy, but also structural expenses and out-of-pocket costs that alter a family's planned budget.
Macro Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Network Scale – Over 20,000 Janaushadhi Kendras (JAKs) are operational across the country to bring products closer to everyday family needs.
- Five-Year Sales (FY 2021-22 to FY 2025-26) – Reached a total turnover of Rs. 7,873.85 crore through the JAK network.
- Citizen Savings – Generated direct savings of approximately Rs. 37,200 crore for Indian citizens over the last five financial years.
- Total Product Basket (As of August 2026) – Includes 2,110 medicines and 315 surgicals, medical consumables, and devices.
- Therapeutic Coverage – Spans all major therapeutic groups including cardiovascular, anti-cancer, anti-diabetic, anti-infectives, anti-allergic, gastro-intestinal medicines, and nutraceuticals.
Segment-Wise Target Initiatives
Janaushadhi Bachpan (Infant and Maternal Care)
- Diapers and Hygiene – Provides baby diapers in different sizes and Baby Wipes (Pack of 20 priced at Rs. 45).
- Infant Care Hardware – Includes Baby Feeding Bottles (250 ml), Manual Breast Pumps, and Infant Feeding Tubes.
- Maternal and Post-Partum Recovery – Offers Abdominal Belts to support post-delivery care and Cervical Pillows priced at Rs. 525 for comfort during and after pregnancy.
Pediatric and Respiratory Support
- Medical Equipment – Access to affordable home devices for growing children facing respiratory issues.
- Pricing Benchmarks – Electrical Nebulizer Machines are available at Rs. 937.50 and Nebulizer Masks with Tubing for children at Rs. 200.
Diagnostic Monitoring and Geriatric Care (Jan Aushadhi Swabhiman)
- Daily Monitoring – Glucometer Test Strips (25 strips) are priced at Rs. 500 for blood sugar tracking alongside Pulse Oximeters for oxygen saturation checks.
- Dignity in Aging – The Jan Aushadhi Swabhiman initiative introduces a dedicated range of adult diapers to provide hygiene, comfort, and financial relief for families caring for aged or bedridden individuals.
Future Expansion and Pipeline Products
- To further broaden the scope of affordable rehabilitation, mobility, and supportive care, the Government is actively processing the inclusion of the following products into the Janaushadhi network –
- Range of Motion (ROM)-Knee Brace
- Walker (Sit Assist-to-Stand Support)
- Medical Steam Vaporizer
- Foot Elevator Pillow
- Pregnancy Back Support Belt
- Cervical Collar
