Standardisation of Yoga Training Practices

World Health Organisation (WHO), in collaboration with India, is working to bring in standardisation in Yoga training practices.

  • Yoga – It is an art & science of healthy living, and a spiritual discipline based on an extremely subtle science, which focuses on bringing harmony between mind and body.

  • Collaboration between – World Health Organisation (WHO) & Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY).

  • Objectives – To create guidelines for Yoga practice, training, and application.

  • To define global benchmarks for professional competency and knowledge, ensuring diverse traditions of Yoga can coexist under uniform quality standards.

Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga

  • It is an autonomous institution under Ministry of Ayush.

  • Established in – 1998, by upgrading Central Research Institute for Yoga (CRIY), founded in 1976.

  • Registered under – Societies Registration Act, 1860.

  • Aim – To promote deeper understanding of Yoga philosophy and practices based on ancient Yoga Traditions for holistic health and well-being of all.

Polity & Governance

Controller General of Accounts (CGA)

Ms. T.C.A. Kalyani, the 29th officer, has assumed charge as the new Controller General of Accounts.

  • He/she is the Principal Advisor on Accounting matters to the Union Government.

  • Work under – Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance.

  • Legal basis – Under Article 150, the Annual Appropriation Accounts (Civil) and Union Finance Accounts are submitted to Parliament on the advice of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.

  • Powers & duties – To prepare monthly and annual analysis of expenditure, revenues, borrowings and various fiscal indicators for the Union Government.

  • To establish and manage a technically sound Management Accounting System.

  • Responsible for exchequer control and internal audits.

Economy

India Post Payments Bank

India Post Payments Bank celebrates 8th foundation day (IPPB Day).

  • Launched in – 2017, as a pilot project in Ranchi & Raipur, with the aim of being present across India by the FY 2018-19.

  • Established under – Department of Post, Ministry of Communication.

  • Aim – To provide every household with access to efficient banking services and become financially secure and empowered.

  • Organized by – Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and Cellular Operator Association of India (COAI).

  • Aim – To bring together industry, government, academia, and other ecosystem players to discuss, deliberate, demonstrate, and display the latest trends in the realm of telecom, media, and technology and information & communication technology.

Cellular Operator Association of India

  • Representative – It acts as an official voice for Indian telecom industry and interacts directly with ministries, policy makers, regulators, financial institutions and technical bodies.

  • Constituted in – 1995, as non-governmental society.

  • Collaborated with – Other Industry Associations such as CII, FICCI, ASSOCHAM, ISPAI, VSAT association etc.

  • Objectives – To work towards the advancement of modern communication through the establishment of world-class mobile infrastructure, products and services.

  • To deliver the benefits of innovative and affordable mobile communication services to the people of India.

Semicon India – 2025

PM to inaugurate ‘Semicon India - 2025’ on 2nd September at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi

  • It is a premier platform uniting global leaders, innovators, academia, policymakers, and the entire electronics ecosystem to shape the future of semiconductors in India.

  • Organised by – India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) and SEMI.

  • Objectives – To catalyse robust and sustainable semiconductor ecosystem in India.

  • To highlight emerging technologies and solutions shaping the future of electronics in India.

India Semiconductor Mission (ISM)

  • Launched in – 2021, by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).

  • It is a company neutral, country neutral global industry association.

  • Aim – To catalyse connection, collaboration and innovation, in helping the semiconductor industry to deploy life-changing tech worldwide.
