Why in News?
Recently, The CCRAS and CSU jointly launched a 15‑day workshop at Udupi to transliterate Ayurveda manuscripts.
CCRAS - Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences
- It is an Apex body for the formulation, coordination, development and promotion of research on scientific lines in Ayurveda system of medicine.
- Nodal Ministry – Ministry of Ayush.
- Vision – Integrate ancient wisdom with modern technology to develop evidence‑based Ayurveda for diagnostics, prevention, treatment, and public health.
About the Initiative
- This is part of a series of manuscript preservation programmes under the Gyan Bharatam Mission.
- Objective – Build expertise among scholars to read, decipher, transliterate, and prepare rare unpublished Ayurveda texts for publication.
- Scripts Covered – Tigalari & Old Kannada (Udupi workshop)
- Earlier workshops focused on Karani/Devanagari (Puri, Odisha) and Vattezhuthu/Malayalam (Guruvayur, Kerala).
- Collaborators – CCRAS, CSU and Sri Vadiraja Research Foundation.
- Participants – Ayurveda colleges (Udupi, Hassan) and Sanskrit Gurukula students.
