• Agricultural Marketing Infrastructure (AMI) is a demand driven scheme.
• AMI Scheme is a sub-scheme of Integrated Scheme for Agricultural Marketing (ISAM).
• AMI scheme is a back ended capital subsidy scheme in which rate of subsidy is 25% and 33.33% based on the category of eligible beneficiary and is provided on capital cost of the project.
• Assistance under the AMI sub-scheme is available to individual farmers, groups of farmers/growers, registered Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) etc.

‘Green Revolution– Krishonnati Yojana’ is an Umbrella Scheme comprising both Central Sector as well as Centrally Sponsored Schemes/Missions.

This Umbrella Scheme has the following twelve Schemes/Missions:

1. Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH);
2. National Mission on Oil Seeds and Oil Palm (NMOOP);
3. National Food Security Mission (NFSM)
4. National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA);
5. Sub-Mission on Agriculture Extension (SMAE);
6. Sub-Mission on Seeds & Planting Material (SMSP);
7. Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanisation (SMAM);
8. Sub-Mission on Plant Protection and Plant Quarantine (SMPPQ);
9. Integrated Scheme on Agricultural Census, Economics and Statistics;
10. Integrated Scheme on Agricultural Cooperation;
11. Integrated Scheme on Agricultural Marketing (ISAM);
12. National e-Governance Plan in Agriculture (NeGP-A).

• A high-level 10-member Committee has been constituted recently under the Chairmanship of Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju to coordinate and strategise the preparation for the 2020 and 2024 Olympics.
• The objective of the committee is to ensure that the performance of the Indian athletes is optimised in the Olympics and other multidisciplinary events.

• A recent report has alleged that China has signed a secret deal to allow its military troops to be stationed at Ream Naval Base on the Gulf of Thailand.

• Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is an agreement reached between Iran and P5+1 countries (The US, France, The UK, China, Russia and Germany).
• As part of the deal, Iran (Not Iraq) agreed to reduce its number of centrifuges - tube-shaped machines that help enrich uranium- by two thirds.
• It also agreed to reduce its stockpile of enriched uranium by 98% and limit uranium enrichment to 3.67%.
• Missile launches are not forbidden under the 2015 nuclear deal.
• But, a UNSC Resolution, passed just as the agreement was reached, says that “Iran is called upon not to undertake any activity related to ballistic missiles designed to be capable of delivering nuclear weapons, including launches using such ballistic missile technology.
• Iran fired a Shahab – 3 medium range missile recently.

• Elephant census will be conducted once in 5 years under the aegis of Project Elephant.
• The last elephant census was conducted in 2017.

• The knotweed, known as Polygonum molle (Sikkim knotweed), which has been recently reclassified as Koenigia mollis, has begun spreading along many streams and rivulets in the upper Nilgiris, especially around Doddabetta, Kodappamund, Adasolai and the Ketti Valley.
• It is native to the Himalayas and its spread has potentially threatening biodiversity along streams and rivers.
• It can cover huge expanses of land, leaving little to no space for other native plant species to grow.
