The SWIFT is a secure financial message carrier. It transports messages from one bank to its intended bank recipient. It is a global member-owned cooperative that is headquartered in Brussels, Belgium. It was founded in 1973 by a group of 239 banks from 15 countries which formed a co-operative utility to develop a secure electronic messaging service and common standards to facilitate cross-border payments.SWIFT established the customer security programme (CSP) in early 2016 to support customers in the fight against a growing cyberthreat.

Ravi-Beas river water dispute - Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan. Ravi and Beas rivers are part of Indus river system. Ravi river rises in the Kullu hills of Himachal Pradesh. Beas originates from Beas Kund near Rohtang Pass.

Mahanadhi river water dispute - Chattisgarh and Odisha.Mahanadhi rises near Sihawa in Raipur district of Chattisgarh and runs through Odisha to join Bay of Bengal.

Cauvery river water dispute - Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Puducherry. Cauvery river rises in Brahmagiri hills of Kodagu district in Karnataka.

Scientists from Botanical Survey of India (BSI) have identified new plant species named Drypetes kalamii from Buxa and Jaldapara National Parks in West Bengal. Scientists have provisionally assessed the plant to be “Critically Endangered” as per IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) rules. It faces threat from forest fire and grazing. NASA has named a bacteria found in International Space Station as Solibacillus kalamii.
 

The International Maritime Organization (IMO), known as the Inter-Governmental Maritime Consultative Organization (IMCO) until 1982, is a specialised agency of the United Nations responsible for regulating shipping. The IMO was established in Geneva in 1948 and came into force ten years later, meeting for the first time in 1959. Headquartered in London, United Kingdom, the IMO has 173 Member States and three Associate Member.

Heavy Water Board (HWB) is a constituent unit under the Department of Atomic Energy.The organisation is primarily responsible for production of Heavy Water (D2O) which is used as a ‘moderator’ and ‘Coolant’ in nuclear power as well as research reactors. Heavy water or deuterium oxide (D2O) is a form of water that contains a large amount of the hydrogen isotope deuterium which is also known as heavy hydrogen.

Evaporation, precipitation, river water, temperature, atmospheric pressure, wind direction and the movements of sea water are responsible in controlling the salinity.

Usually move across North-America from west to east under the influence of westerlies. They can be found over both the oceans and continents. Mid-latitude cyclones can produce a wide variety of precipitation types. Precipitation types include: rain, freezing rain, hail, sleet, snow pellets, and snow. Frozen forms of precipitation (except hail) are common with storms that occur in the winter months. Hail is associated with severe thunderstorms that form along or in front of cold fronts during spring and summer months. Mid-latitude cyclones are the result of the dynamic interaction of warm tropical and cold polar air masses at the polar front with strong temperature contrasts. 

The mapping of the ocean floor and palaeomagnetic studies of rocks from oceanic regions revealed the following facts: Rocks closer to the mid-oceanic ridges have normal polarity and are the youngest. The age of the rocks increases as one moves away from the crest. Nowhere was the sediment column found to be older than 200 million years. Constant eruptions at the crest of oceanic ridges cause the rupture of the oceanic crust and the new lava wedges into it, pushing the oceanic crust on either side. The ocean floor thus spreads.
