  • Announced by – Ministry of Women and Child Development.
  • New helpline number – 1515, will be live from 1st November 2025, replacing the existing number 14408.
  • Aim – To simplify recall and improve accessibility for beneficiaries seeking assistance under POSHAN and PMMVY schemes.

National Workshop on NAKSHA programme for District Collectors

  • Organised by – Department of Land Resources (DoLR), with LBSNAA's B N Yugandhar Centre for Rural Studies (BNYCRS).
  • Aim – To build administrative and technical readiness for the NAKSHA (NAtional geospatial Knowledge-based land Survey of urban Habitations) programme's nationwide rollout.
  • Key highlights
    • Comprehensive overview of NAKSHA's workflow and ground-truthing.
    • Technical training on GIS and modern survey techniques.
    • Practical insights on data acquisition.
    • Discussions on the administrative and legal implementation framework.

Security

ICGS Ajit and ICGS Aparajit

  • These vessels are the 7th and 8th in a series of 8 indigenously built Fast Patrol Vessels (FPVs).
  • Constructed by – Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL).
  • Features – Equipped with Controllable Pitch Propellers (CPP) the 1st of their kind in this class in India, offering superior manoeuvrability and propulsion efficiency.
  • Role – The multi-mission roles including fisheries protection, coastal patrol, anti-smuggling, anti-piracy and search & rescue operations.
  • Aim – To enhance the nation’s coastal surveillance and response capabilities.

Project Arunank (BRO)

Project Arunank of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) celebrated its 18th Raising Day at Naharlagun, Arunachal Pradesh.

  • Launched in – 2008.
  • Constructed & maintained over – 696 km of roads and 1.18 km of major bridges.
  • It provides vital connectivity to remote valleys & forward areas of Arunachal Pradesh while meeting the operational requirements of the Armed Forces.
  • Achievements – Completion of the 278 km Hapoli-Sarli-Huri Road, blacktopped for the first time since Independence.
  • Adoption of – Innovative and sustainable technologies such as Steel Slag, Cut-and-Cover Tunnels, Geo Cells, Plastic Sheets, GGBFS Concrete and Gabion Walls, enhancing the durability and environmental sustainability of road infrastructure in the region.
  • Green initiative – ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,’ 23,850 trees were planted across Arunachal Pradesh, reflecting BRO’s commitment to environmental conservation.

18th Joint Hydrographic Survey

INS Sutlej completes hydrographic survey at Mauritius.

  • Conducted under MoU between – India and Mauritius.
  • Coverage – Approximately 35,000 square nautical miles.
  • Aim – To contributes to marine charting, coastal regulation, resource management, and long-term environmental planning, thereby supporting Mauritius’ Blue Economy goals.
  • Significance – It aligns with the vision of MAHASAGAR – Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across the Regions.
  • Other activities – It carried out joint EEZ surveillance and anti-piracy patrols with the Mauritius National Coast Guard, strengthening regional maritime security.

IKSHAK

  • It is an Indian Navy’s indigenously built 3rd Survey Vessel (Large).
  • Ikshak, meaning – ‘The Guide’, aptly symbolises her mission to chart the unknown, ensure safe passage for mariners, and strengthen India’s maritime power.
  • Built by – Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) Ltd, Kolkata, under the supervision of the Directorate of Ship Production and the Warship Overseeing Team (Kolkata),
  • Indigenous content – Over 80% which reflects the spirit and strength of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
  • Primary role – Hydrographic survey operations.
  • Designed with – Dual-role capability, serving as a Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) platform, and as a Hospital Ship during emergencies.
  • Inclusive fleet – It is the 1st SVL ship with dedicated accommodation for women, reflecting the Indian Navy’s inclusive and progressive approach towards a future-ready fleet.

Failaka Island, Kuwait

An archaeological team has unearthed a 4,000-year-old temple of the Bronze Age Dilmun Civilisation on Failaka Island.

  • 2nd Dilmun temple – Discovered at the same site, indicating two temples built successively between 1900-1800 BCE, a rare architectural phenomenon.
  • Excavation states – The complete temple layout, stone foundations, multi-room structures, and a central chamber resembling ritual sites in Bahrain and Eastern Arabia.
  • Artefacts – Pottery sherds, seals and seal impressions, beads, and carved fragments.

Display Monthly and Annual Pass Information at Toll Plazas

NHAI has issued directions to field offices to display pass information.

  • Display detailed information about these passes at all fee plazas on National Highways that come under NHAI jurisdiction.​
  • Displayed on – Signage boards at visible locations, including fee plaza approaches, customer service areas, and entry/exit points.
  • Languages – English, Hindi, and/or local regional language.
  • Aim – To ensure that users are well-informed about the availability, rates, and procedures for availing of the Local Monthly Pass and Annual Pass facility.

Local Monthly Pass

  • Available for – Private vehicles residing within 20 km (or as applicable) radius of a fee plaza.
  • Required documents include – Aadhar card, Vehicle Registration Certificate and proof of residential address etc. also listed at all Fee Plazas.
  • Issued at – Fee Plaza helpdesk after verification of documents.

Infantry Day

  • It is also known as Shaurya Diwas, with a solemn Wreath Laying Ceremony at the National War Memorial, New Delhi, paying tribute to the valour, sacrifice and indomitable spirit of the Infantry.
  • Annually observed on – 27th October.
  • Nation’s history – On this day in 1947, Infantrymen of the Indian Army were the 1st troops to land at Srinagar airport.
