Vigilance Awareness Week 2025

3rd Berlin Global Dialogue (BGD)
Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, participated as a speaker at the 3rd Berlin Global Dialogue (BGD).
- It is an annual summit that brings together leaders from business, government, and academia to deliberate on issues shaping the global economy.
- Session titled – “Leaders' Dialogue: Growing Together – Trade and Alliances in a Changing World.”
- Aim – To identify practical pathways to enhance market access and build a new trading ecosystem that drives sustainable global growth.
- Significance - This visit reflects the deepening alignment of strategic priorities between India and its European partners.
- It marks the 25th anniversary of the India–Germany Strategic Partnership, highlighting the depth, resilience, and long-standing strength of bilateral ties.

Deployment of Network Survey Vehicles
- Deployed by – National Highway Authority of India.
- Coverage – 23 states covering 20,933 km.
- Aim – To collect necessary data related to road inventory and pavement condition including all relevant road defects like surface cracking, potholes and patches etc.
- NSV survey will be uploaded on – NHAI’s ‘AI’ based portal Data Lake, analysed by a dedicated team of experts at NHAI to transform data into knowledge and subsequent actionable insights.

- NSV System – It is a specialized infrastructure management tool comprising vehicles equipped with advanced sensors and data acquisition systems.
- These vehicles systematically collect data on road inventory and condition of National Highways.
- Significance – The collected data is useful to take decisions for pavement maintenance, asset management, and infrastructure planning.
- It contributes to the enhancing safety and efficiency of the National Highway Network across the country.

Global Forest Resources Assessment (GFRA) 2025
- Released by – Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Bali.
- India’s position –
- India is moving up to the 9th position in terms of total forest area globally (previously in 10th position).
- It also maintained its 3rd position worldwide in terms of annual forest area gain.
- Significance –
- India has achieved a significant milestone in global environmental conservation.
- India reaffirms its commitment to sustainable forest management and ecological balance.

16th Session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD)
- Held in – Geneva.
- Established in – 1964.
- Aim – To promote the integration of developing countries into the global economy through trade, investment, and sustainable development policies.
- Theme of 16th session – "Shaping the Future: Driving Economic Transformation for Equitable, Inclusive, and Sustainable Development.”

JAIMEX – 2025
Indian Naval Ship (INS) Sahyadri, participated in JAIMEX-25.
- Maritime exercise between – India and Japan.
- 2 phases –
- Sea phase – It includes advanced Anti-Submarine Warfare and missile defence drills, enhancing interoperability by undertaking flying operations and underway replenishment.
- Harbour phase – It includes cross-deck visits, collaborative operational planning, sharing of best practices, and a combined Yoga session to foster camaraderie and unity.
- Significance – It underscores the strong and burgeoning Navy-to-Navy interactions that underpin ‘Special Strategic & Global Partnership’ established between India & Japan in 2014.
- It is a crucial pillar for ensuring peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific maritime domain.
- It serves as a key engagement during the ship's ongoing Long-Range Deployment to the Indo-Pacific region.

INS Sahyadri
- It is an indigenously built Shivalik-class Guided Missile Stealth Frigate.
- Commissioned in – 2012.
- Significance – It is a testament to India's growing pursuit of indigenous defence technology and the nation's vision of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India).
- It is a multi-role stealth frigate has participated in various operational deployments, bilateral and multilateral exercises.

Taal Volcano
Recently, Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reportedly raised the alert level for Taal Volcano to Level 1 due to its repeated eruption.
- It is one of the most active volcanoes, which had its last major eruption in January 2020.
- Located in – Batangas province about 70 kilometres south of Manila, Philippines.
- Classified as – A “complex” volcano by the PHIVOLCS.
- The eruptions reportedly sent ash columns rising between 1,200 and 2,100 meters above the crater.

Defence minister formally confers insignia of Honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in Territorial Army upon Neeraj Chopra.
