History, Art and Culture

World Sanskrit Day 2025

Observed annually on – Shravan Purnima, which usually falls in August, according to the Hindu lunar calendar.
Date coincides with – Festivals like Raksha Bandhan and Upakarma.
Aim – To promote its learning, preserve its cultural heritage, and highlight its relevance in modern times.

Polity & Governance

Section 152 - Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita

Aim – To protect national security and prevent activities that could harm the country’s integrity or encourage disunity.
Offence – Act endangering sovereignty, unity and integrity of India.
It is a cognizable & non-bailable.
Coverage – Secession, armed rebellion & subversive activities.
Punishment – Imprisonment for life, or imprisonment for 7 years and fine.

Health

Soil Transmitted Worms

It is parasitic worm infections.
Transmitted by – Eggs present in human faeces, which contaminate the soil.
Impact – Infected children are nutritionally and physically impaired, iron deficiency, fatigue, & poor academic performance.
Mitigation – Periodical deworming to eliminate infecting worms, and improved sanitation to reduce soil contamination.

National Deworming Day or Campaign

Launched in – 2015 by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.
Conducted bi-annually on – 10^th February & 10^th August.
Aim – To deworm all preschool and school-age children (enrolled and non-enrolled) between the ages of 1-19 years.
Conducted through – Schools and Anganwadi Centres by providing chewable Albendazole tablet.

Albendazole

Albendazole is an anthelmintic medication used to treat various parasitic worm infections.
Functions – To prevent the worms from absorbing sugar (glucose), which causes them to lose energy and die.
Diagnosis – Pork tapeworm, dog tapeworm, roundworms, hookworms, threadworms, whipworms, pinworms, flukes, and other parasites.

RAN SAMWAD-2025

It is a first-of-its-kind Tri-service seminar on war, warfare & warfighting, at Army War College in MP.
Aim – To enhance interaction, communication and cooperation among military communities on issues critical to warfighting.
Themes – Information Warfare and Grey Zone Threats to Integrated Operations and Future Combat Technologies.

Integrated Air Drop Test (IADT-1)

It is a trial to ensure the reliability of the parachute system's performance in real-world conditions.
Developed by – Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
Aim – To accomplish end-to-end demonstration of parachute-based deceleration system for Gaganyaan missions.
Demonstrated with – A dummy crew capsule (5 tonnes) was lifted up through the air before being dropped by a Chinook helicopter.

OpenAI

It is an American-based Artificial Intelligence (AI) research organization.
Founded in – 2015.
Consist of 2 entities –
- OpenAI Inc., a non-profit research segment.
- OpenAI Global LLC, a for-profit & commercialization of its AI applications.
Aim – To Develop Artificial General Intelligence (AGI).
Launched Products – ChatGPT, Codex, whisper and DELL-E.

Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS)

IVRS – It is an automated telephone system technology that enables callers to receive, provide information or make requests by using voice or menu inputs.
Powered by – A prerecorded messaging or text-to-speech technology with a dual-tone multifrequency (DTMF) interface.
