Conference on Litigation Management

  • Organized by – Department of Legal Affairs, Ministry of Law and Justice.

  • Theme – “Strengthening Institutional Litigation Governance for Viksit Bharat @2047”.

  • Key focus on – Implement the Directive on Litigation Management, 2025.

  • Minimize recurring cases.

  • Strengthen institutional dispute resolution.

  • Use digital tools (e.g., LIMBS) for monitoring and decisions.

  • Objectives – To treat litigation as a core governance function with strong follow-up and review mechanisms.

  • To build a robust administrative system to reduce pendency, cut costs, and ensure compliance with judicial decisions.

International Relations and Issues

India–Bhutan Cooperation on Rivers & Hydropower

Secretary (DoWR, RD & GR, Ministry of Jal Shakti), led an Indian team to Bhutan.

  • Objective – To strengthen cooperation on trans-boundary rivers, hydropower projects, and flood management.

  • Key discussions –

    • Enhancing flood forecasting and data-sharing mechanisms.

    • Modernising hydro-meteorological networks.

    • Collaboration on capacity building & technical exchanges.

    • Addressing climate change challenges (GLOFs, extreme weather).

  • Site visits – Punatsangchhu-I (under construction), Punatsangchhu-II (recently commissioned), NCHM facilities, and water treatment projects.

Economy

Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway (NE-8)

  • Built under – Bharatmala Pariyojana.

  • Connectivity Improvements

    • Ahmedabad to Dholera – Distance reduced from 100 km (2 hours 15 minutes) to 83 km (45 minutes).

    • Ahmedabad to Bhavnagar – Distance reduced from 169 km (3 hours 15 minutes) to 141 km (1 hour 45 minutes).

  • Impact

    • Expected to increase investment in the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR) and promote regional economic growth.

    • Saves 2–2.5 hrs per trip, improving family time and village-city integration.

  • Objective – To redefine travel, reducing distances, fostering investment, and building a greener future.

NE-8’s Build & Features

  • Reused 60 lakh MT waste, 22 lakh MT fly ash, planted 4.2 lakh+ trees.

  • 30m median for future 8-lane expansion.

  • Direct link to Dholera International Airport.

  • A parallel semi-high-speed rail corridor is planned alongside the expressway.

  • Modern tolling, amenities, and extensive structures (ROBs, flyovers, underpasses).

Indian Institute of Handloom Technology (IIHT)

Vice President of India, inaugurated the new academic building of the IIHT.

  • Inaugurated in – Salem.

  • Objective – To Strengthen handloom education, skill development, and research to empower weavers and align production with modern market demand.

  • Facilities – Modern classrooms, digital library, seminar hall, labs, training spaces, and the Controller of Examinations office for all 11 IIHTs.

  • Significance – It modernizes Tamil Nadu’s textile ecosystem and advancing Atmanirbhar Bharat.

  • Note - India now has 18 FTAs with 56 countries, expanding global market access for textiles and handlooms.

Agriculture

Temporary Discontinuation of Rice Fortification

Government of India has temporarily halted rice fortification under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) and allied welfare schemes.

  • Rice varieties – Fortified rice kernels (FRK) and fortified rice (FR).

  • Reason –

  • FRK and FR lose micronutrients during prolonged storage due to factors like moisture, temperature, humidity, and packaging.

  • This reduces their effective shelf life and limits nutritional benefits.

  • Impact – No change in foodgrain entitlements; PDS, ICDS, and Mid-Day Meal remain unaffected.

  • Transition – States/UTs may distribute fortified or non-fortified rice for KMS 2025–26 and pending 2024–25 stocks.

  • Next Step – Fortification will resume only after a stronger nutrient delivery system is developed.

  • Held at – Pokhran Range, Jaisalmer.

  • Guided by – “Achook, Abhedya aur Sateek” – reaffirming IAF’s role as a multi-domain, integrated force and strategic deterrent.

  • Objective – To demonstrate its formidable combat readiness, operational synergy and technological prowess across full spectrum of air operations.

PM-SETU Industry Leadership Conclave,

  • PM-SETU – Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded it is.

  • Held in – Bhopal.

  • Hosted by – Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE).

  • Industry role – Partners can co-create curricula, modernize equipment, restructure clusters, and embed global best practices.

  • Global collaborations

    • France – Centre of Excellence in Aeronautics (NSTI Kanpur).

    • Germany – Renewable Energy (NSTI Hyderabad).

    • Singapore – Advanced Manufacturing (NSTI Chennai).

  • Objectives – To strengthen ITIs by placing industry at the center of governance.

  • To ensure training aligns with real-time industrial demand.

National Arogya Fair 2026

  • Held in – Shegaon.

  • Nodal ministry – Ministry of Ayush.

  • Objectives – To strengthen preventive, promotive, and integrative healthcare through various Ayush systems of medicine.

  • To Promote rural livelihoods by encouraging medicinal plant cultivation and value addition.

  • Significance – It reinforces the Ministry’s vision of holistic health, rural empowerment and global leadership in Ayush systems.
