Committee for Strategic Asset Allocation and Risk Governance (SAARG)

  • Constituted by – Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority.
  • Objectives – To strengthen the investment architecture of NPS to support long-term retirement wealth creation.
  • To enhance diversification, improve risk management practices and expand subscriber choice.
  • Scope –
    • Examination of strategic asset allocation frameworks,
    • Introduction and review of asset classes,
    • Performance measurement and accountability mechanisms,
    • ALM practices, valuation standards for alternative investments,
    • Portfolio stability and liquidity optimisation measures,
    • governance and intermediary architecture, and integration of sustainability considerations in investment decision-making.

Environment

Samvad Samaroh and Recognition Programme for WaSH Warriors

  • Organized by – Ministry of Jal Shakti.
  • Objective – To honour individuals who have demonstrated leadership in water conservation and sanitation at the grassroots level.
  • National recognition – 58 WaSH (WAter, Sanitation, and Hygiene) Warriors nominated by States and Union Territories under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) participated in the programme.

Green Penalty Funds - Usage Rules Notified

The Union Environment Ministry notified usage rules for the Environment Protection Fund (EPF).

  • Penalties from – Environmental (Protection) Act, 1986; Air Act, 1981; the Water Act, 1974.
  • Funds transferred to – Consolidated Fund of India (CFI), then the Public Account.
  • Fund composition –
    • Administrative expenses capped at ≤5% annually, subject to Centre/State approval.
    • 75% of funds allocated to a dedicated Environmental Fund, reserved exclusively for environmental purposes.
    • 25% allocated to Public Account, with Centre retaining flexible usage authority.

Wings India 2026

  • Asia’s largest civil aviation event.
  • Launched by – Ministry of Civil Aviation.
  • Theme – “Indian Aviation: Paving the Future – From Design to Deployment, Manufacturing to Maintenance, Inclusivity to Innovation and Safety to Sustainability”.
  • Objectives – To showcase India’s aviation ascent as the world’s fastest-growing civil aviation market.
  • To emerge as a key hub for manufacturing, services, innovation and sustainable aviation solutions.

Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT)

C-DOT has been conferred the “SKOCH Award-2025” for its Cell Broadcast Solution (CBS).

  • C-DOT is a premier research and development centre, under the aegis of Department of Telecommunications, for telecommunication technologies.
  • It has been instrumental in developing indigenous technologies supporting government initiatives like Digital India and Make in India.
  • Currently working on – Futuristic technologies like 5G, 6G, Quantum, Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity.

C-DOT’s Cell Broadcast Solution

  • It is an indigenous disaster and emergency alert platform designed to enable near real-time dissemination of life-saving information to citizens in affected areas through cellular networks.
  • It is a disaster and emergency platform which brings disaster alert generation agencies-
    • India Meteorological Department (IMD) for weather,
    • Central Water Commission (CWC) for floods,
    • Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) for tsunamis/oceanic events,
    • Defence Geo-informatics Research Establishment (DGRE) for landslides, and
    • Forest Survey of India (FSI) for forest fires;
    • All mobile operators for delivery of broadcast message; SDMAs and NDMAs for approving the alerts & disaster management, on a single integrated unified platform.
  • This indigenous, cost effective and fully automated system has enabled geo-targeted, multi-hazard alerting with multi lingual (21 languages) support.

SKOCH Award-2025

  • Held as part of – 104th SKOCH Summit.
  • Theme – “Resourcing Viksit Bharat”.
  • Award to – Individuals, projects, and institutions both government and & private, across India for outstanding work in improving governance and development.
  • Objective – To recognize excellence in sectors like finance, tech, health, education, and grassroots work.

Online Promotion of Ayush Products

  • MoU between – Ayush Export Promotion Council (AYUSHEXCIL) and Zepto Limited.
  • Aim – To build a structured digital framework for promoting authentic AYUSH medicines and wellness products through verified online channels.
  • Key features –
    • Creation of a dedicated AYUSH store front on Zepto, enabling consumers to access verified AYUSH products easily.
    • Promotion of AYUSH Quality Mark (AQM) compliance to ensure adherence to certified standards and authenticity.
    • Identification of eligible AYUSH manufacturers by AYUSHEXCIL, especially among MSMEs, for digital onboarding.
    • Joint consumer awareness initiatives focusing on authentic information and responsible usage of AYUSH products.
    • Collaboration on credible educational content about AYUSH systems, validated by AYUSHEXCIL and hosted on Zepto’s platform.

International Data Privacy Day

  • Observed annually on – 28th January.
  • Designated in – 2006 by the Council of Europe.
  • Commemoration to – The signing of Convention 108, the world’s first legally binding international treaty on data protection.
  • Aim – To raise awareness about the importance of protecting personal data and privacy in the digital age.
