Guru Tegh Bahadur Martyrdom Day
He was the ninth of the ten Sikh Gurus and the youngest son of the sixth Guru, Guru Hargobind.
- Born - on April 1, 1621, in Amritsar, Punjab.
- Martyrdom - He was executed 0n November 11, 1675 under the orders of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb for defending the religious freedom of Kashmiri Pandits and non-Muslims against forced conversion.
- But Guru Tegh Bahadur's Martyrdom Day, is widely commemorated on November 24.
- His sacrifice earned him the title "Hind ki Chadar" (Shield of India).
- Teachings - His 115 hymns (Salokas) are included in the Guru Granth Sahib. His philosophy championed justice, equality, spiritual devotion, and service to humanity.
- Founder of Anandpur Sahib - He founded the city of Anandpur Sahib in Punjab, which later became the pivotal center where his son, Guru Gobind Singh, established the Khalsa Panth.
- Succession - He was the father of the tenth and final human Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh.
