Social Issues

Adi Sanskriti Project

  • Launched in – 2025, by Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
  • Objectives –
    • To create a comprehensive platform for safeguarding, learning, and promoting India’s tribal knowledge systems.
    • To digitally map, archive, and perpetuate tribal art forms and socio-cultural practices.
    • To create a modern, interactive Digital Academy to provide accessible learning for tribal and general audiences, supported by master artisans.
    • To facilitate fair trade and direct market linkages for tribal artists and artisans.
    • To showcase India’s tribal diversity to international audiences through immersive experiences and digital outreach.
  • Rename – In the second phase, it is proposed to be renamed as ‘TribalEx’ an e-learning platform, developed by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
  • Implementation the project –
    • Stakeholder-Led Development.
    • Phased Content Rollout.
    • Community Engagement.

Polity & Governance

National Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Hub (NSSH) Scheme

  • Launched in – 2016, by Ministry of Micro,Small & Medium Enterprises.
  • Objectives –
    • To promote entrepreneurship amongst the SCs/STs.
    • To fulfil the mandated 4% of procurement from SC/ST MSEs under the Public Procurement Policy for Micro and Small Enterprises.
  • Several initiatives –
    • Capacity building programmes;
    • Market linkage programmes,
    • Organization of Special Vendor Development programmes,
    • Workshops/awareness programmes,
    • Subsidy on purchase of plant & machinery/equipment,
    • Financial assistance for registration under Single Point Registration Scheme,
    • For enrolment on Government promoted e-commerce portals, etc.

Reservation for Agniveers

  • Decided by – Union Home Ministry.
  • Aim – To enhance reservation for ex-Agniveers in the Group C posts of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) from the existing 10% to 50.
  • Exempted from – Physical Standard Test and Physical Efficiency Test, the notification suggests that the ex-Agniveers will have to appear for written examinations like other regular candidates.
  • CAPFs comprise – Central industrial Security Force, BSF, Central Reserve Police Force, Indo Tibetan Border Police, Sashastra Seema Bal and the Assam Rifles.

NASA chief

  • Mr. Isaacman – He becomes a NASA administrator, making an advocate of Mars missions.
  • He was a former associate of SpaceX CEO Elon Musk the space agency’s 15th leader.

Economy

Spiritual Tourism Circuits Schemes

  • Launched by – Ministry of Tourism
  • Swadesh Darshan (SD) scheme – To develop tourism infrastructure under identified thematic circuits such as Spiritual, Buddhist, Krishna, Ramayana, Tirthankar etc. in the country.
    • Revamped as – Swadesh Darshan 2.0 (SD2.0) with the objective to develop sustainable and responsible tourism destinations.
    • Sub-scheme – ‘Challenge Based Destination Development (CBDD)’ provides financial assistance to the State Governments/ UT Administrations.
  • Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Heritage Augmentation Drive (PRASHAD) – To integrated development at identified pilgrimage & heritage destinations.
  • Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) – Development of Iconic Tourist Centres to Global Scale’ sanctioned 40 projects in the country.
    • Objective – To comprehensively develop iconic tourist centres in the country, branding and marketing them at global scale.

100% FDI in Insurance

Lok Sabha passes bill on 100% FDI in Insurance.

  • Provision – Increases Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) limit in insurance from 74% to100%.
  • Amendments to –
    • Insurance Act, 1938;
    • LIC Act, 1956;
    • IRDA Act, 1999.
  • Advantages –
    • To pave way for capital infusion, better technology, better products.
    • To ease entry for global companies.
  • Significance – To strengthens policyholder protection, improves transparency, empowers regulator.

Environment

National Consultative Workshop on the STs and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006

  • Organised by – Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MoTA), with National Tribal Research Institute (NTRI).
  • Objective – To strengthen democratic forest governance and ensure sustainable livelihoods for tribal communities.
  • Significance – It enables India’s Viksit Bharat through inclusive growth & sustainable forest governance.

Inhalable microplastics – New Pollutant

  • Size – Less than 10 micrometres.
  • Concentration – Average 8.8 μg/m³ in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai.
  • Health Risks
    • It penetrates deep into lungs.
    • It acts as "Trojan horses" for toxic co-pollutants (heavy metals like lead/cadmium, hormone-disrupting chemicals like diethyl phthalates).
    • It Carries antibiotic-resistant microbes (e.g. Aspergillus fumigatus).
    • It associated with higher risk of cancer, hormone-related diseases, breast problems, respiratory illnesses.
  • Sources – Synthetic textiles, toy fillings, packaging, tyre wear, cosmetics, industries and construction.

Science

Bharat CPSEs’ Consultative Conclave

  • Organised by – Capacity Building Commission (CBC), with Department of Public Enterprises (DPE), Ministry of Finance.
  • Theme “Shaping India’s Growth Story through DAKSH PSEs @2047”.
  • Objectives –
  • To develop a shared and structured CPSEs’ Capacity Building Roadmap, aligned with Mission Karmayogi.
  • To integrate principles of good governance into CPSEs’ human capital strategies, strengthen leadership and succession planning.
  • To promote inter-CPSE collaboration to support the national vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.

Agreement with Flipkart

National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET), has entered into an agreement with Flipkart.

  • Nodal ministry – Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE).
  • Objectives –
    • To strengthen India’s vocational education and skilling ecosystem.
    • To create nationally recognised, industry-led skilling pathways for India’s rapidly expanding e-commerce and logistics workforce, in alignment with the Skill India Mission.
    • To bridge critical skill gaps in the e-commerce supply chain, create a pool of certified and job-ready talent, and support India’s vision of becoming a globally competitive, future-ready economy.
