Yoga Park Portal

Recently, Yoga Park Portal has been launched during the 25-day countdown event for the International Day of Yoga 2026.

  • Launched by – Ministry of Ayush

  • Participants – Panchayati Raj Institutions, Urban Local Bodies,

    • Resident Welfare Associations,

    • Non-governmental organisations,

    • Corporate entities, and other institutions through the portal.

  • Objectives – To upgrade existing public parks into welcoming spaces equipped for yoga practice.

  • Features – Serve as Community Anchors for Wellness and Preventive Healthcare.

    • Promote healthier lifestyles and strengthen India's preventive healthcare ecosystem.

    • Encourages corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), by contributing to wellness infrastructure.

International Relations and Issues

G7 Summit

Recently, Prime Minister addressed the Outreach Session at the G7 Summit.

  • Held in – Evian, France.

  • Objective – To forge new partnerships and rebuilding international solidarity.

G7 Countries

  • G7 (or Group of Seven)Informal bloc of seven of the world's most advanced and industrialized economies.

  • Member countriesCanada, USA, Japan, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy.

    • The European Union (EU) is a non-enumerated member & it does not hold the rotating presidency.

  • Secretariat – No Permanent secretariat, charter, or legal status.

  • Rotating presidency – Annually.

  • Note – Initially its G8 from 1998 to 2014, but Russia was expelled following its annexation of Crimea.

  • India is not a member.

Economy

Kishau Multipurpose Dam Project

A meeting reached a consensus among six states on the long-pending Kishau Multipurpose Dam Project recently.

  • Location – Along the border of Sirmour district (Himachal Pradesh) and (Dehradun district) Uttarakhand.

  • Dam Structure – A 236-meter-high concrete gravity dam.

  • Planned on – Tons River (the largest tributary of the Yamuna)

  • Six stakeholder states – Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Rajasthan.

  • Funding pattern – Central Government (90%) and six participating states (10%).

  • Objectives – To generate hydroelectric power,

    • Provide downstream irrigation,

    • Augment drinking water supply for Delhi, and

    • Rejuvenate the Yamuna River

Champa-Korba Third Line Project

Recently Indian Railways has approved the 42-kilometre Champa-Korba Third Line Project an amount of rs.755 crore.

  • Location – Chhattisgarh.

  • Connectivity

    • Champa and Korba, excluding the already-sanctioned Madwarani–Saragbundia section &

    • Key coal hubs to the Mumbai–Howrah Corridor.

  • Headed by – South East Central Railway (SECR).

  • Objective – Expand freight movement capacity.

    • Streamline passenger traffic along a major national coal-transportation route.

  • Significance – Supports Mission 3000 MT and High-Density Network (HDN) goals.

Mission 3000 MT

  • It is a flagship infrastructure and cargo initiative

  • Launched by – Ministry of Railways.

  • Focus on – Attracting incremental non-bulk traffic (like automobiles) from road transport,

    • Improving containerization, and

    • Reducing cargo tariffs.

  • Objective – To upscale the Indian Railways' originating freight loading capacity to 3,000 million tonnes (MT) per annum.

Arbitrage Funds

The Arbitrage funds are in the news due to declining investor inflows and reduced return margins.

  • These are equity-oriented mutual funds that generate low-risk profits.

  • Fund managers simultaneously buy stocks in the cash (spot) market and sell them in the derivatives (futures) market, locking in the price spread.

  • Taxation – Like equity funds i.e, Longterm - 12.5% (>1 year), Short term - 20% (< 1year).

  • Features – Higher stock market volatility boosts arbitrage fund returns by creating larger price spreads.

    • Returns from these funds are independent of interest rate changes.

Jardalu Mango

over 125 quintals of GI-tagged Jardalu mangoes dispatched as gift packs to top VVIPs, including the President, Prime Minister by Bihar government recently.

  • The Jardalu Mango (also Zardalu) is a premium, highly aromatic mango variety.

  • Grown in – Bhagalpur district of Bihar, India.

  • Features – Light-yellow skin, intense sweet fragrance, and non-fibrous tender pulp.

  • Nutrition – Rich in natural fiber and enzymes that make it exceptionally easy on the stomach.

  • Availability – Seasonally available (from mid-April through the end of June).

Greater Hog Badger

Recently, Kaziranga releases first scientific report on greater hog badger.

  • Scientific name – Arctonyx collaris

  • Native to – South and Southeast Asia.

  • Habitat – Inhabit diverse terrains, from tropical forests and savannas to grasslands, hills, and mountains.

  • Appearance

    • It is a large, terrestrial mustelid.

    • Features medium-length dark grey to brownish fur, a white throat, a stocky body, and

    • Two prominent black stripes running along its white face.

  • Claws – Utilized for highly efficient digging and burrowing.

  • Conservation Status

    • IUCN - Vulnerable

    • Wildlife Protection Act of 1972 - Schedule I

Crohn’s Disease

A recent cellular study of Crohn’s disease has mapped how gene activity changes across more than 50 cell types in the gut.

  • It is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

    • It causes swelling, irritation, and ulcers anywhere along the digestive tract, from the mouth to the anus.

  • Symptoms – Persistent diarrhea (sometimes bloody)

    • Abdominal pain and severe cramping

    • Unexplained weight loss and fatigue

    • Fever, reduced appetite, and mouth sores

  • Cause – Unknown, may result from an overactive immune system, genetics.

  • Diagnosis – Endoscopy Blood and Stool Tests.

  • Treatment – Medications and Surgery.
