History, Art and Culture

‘Natyashastra – Synthesis of Theory and Praxis’

Academic programme held – During the 20^th Session of UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage at the iconic Red Fort, Delhi.
Organised by – Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA).
Aim – To deliberate on the ‘Natyashastra’ as a living knowledge system that continues to integrate theory and practice within India’s performing arts traditions.

Perumbidugu Mutharaiyar Stamp

A commemorative postage stamp in honour of the king Perumbidugu Mutharaiyar II was released by Vice President C P Radhakrishnan.

Perumbidugu Mutharaiyar (705 AD-745 AD) – He also known as Suvaran Maran, was a ruler of the Mutharaiyar lineage, feudatories of the Pallavas.
He fought bravely in several battles alongside the Pallava king Nandivarman, and is remembered as a great administrator.
Ruled over areas including – Thanjavur, Pudukkottai, Perambalur, Tiruchirappalli, and others near the Cauvery River.
Religions – The Pallava reign saw a religious revivalism of Hinduism amid the dominance of Jainism and Buddhism.
- As their feudatories, the Mutharaiyars were great temple builders.
- Suvaran Maran was also known as Shatrubhayankar.
- He seems to have patronised Shaivya and other scholars, as a Jain monk Vimalachandra is mentioned as visiting his court to debate them.

National Handicrafts Week

Observed annually from – 8^th to 14^th December.
Conducted by – Ministry of Textiles with India Handmade digital platform.
Objectives –
- Careful restoration of heritage craft pieces.
- Strengthening structural integrity and visual detailing.
- Preserving indigenous craft techniques embedded in each artefact.
- Ensuring longevity of culturally significant museum items.
- Showcasing Northeast India’s craft heritage with renewed clarity.
Significance – It aligns with the national vision of Vocal for Local and Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India).

Ramalingeswara Temple

Ambassador and Permanent Representative of India to UNESCO reviews conservation works at Ramappa Temple.

It is popularly known as Ramappa Temple & Rudreswara Temple.
Name “Ramappa” – Because of its chief sculptor Ramappa, probably the only temple in India that is named after the architect.
Presiding deity – Ramalingeswara Swamy.
Located in – Palampet village in Mulug Taluk, Telangana.
Constructed in – 1213 AD during the reign of the Kakatiya Empire by RecharlaRudra, a general of Kakatiya king Ganapati Deva.
Building technique –
- 6 feet high star-shaped platform with walls, pillars and ceilings adorned with intricate carvings.
- Earthquake-proof technique has made the temple light, meaning, in case of a natural event like an earthquake, the probability of it collapsing would be very low.
- Sandbox technique acts as a cushion in case of earthquakes.
Recognition – In 2021, the temple was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as “Kakatiya Rudreshwara (Ramappa) Temple, Telangana”.

Inland Port Facility in Rajasthan

Deendayal Port Authority – It provides one of the cheapest transport facilities for export sector and it offers one of the lowest Cargo and Vessel related Charges amongst all Major Ports in the country.
Available through – 12 notified Inland Container Depots (ICDs) by Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), which support the movement of export–import cargo.
These ICDs can be utilized for customs clearance and related logistics services, for the trade.
List of ICDs –
- Bhilwara, Bhiwadi, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota, Udaipur & Ravatha Road, Kota.
- Mandavariya – Kishangarh (District Ajmer) & Hindaun City (District Karauli),
- Kathuwas and Mandhan Village (District Alwar), Dhanakya and Kishangarh.

Social Issues

Navya Vocational Training

NAVYA – Nurturing Aspirations through Vocational training for Young Adolescent Girls.
Launched in – June 2025, by Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and Ministry of Women & Child Development (MWCD).
Aim – To empower adolescent girls (AGs) aged 16–18 years in aspirational districts by equipping them with relevant skills for socio-economic independence.
Objectives -
- Provide demand-driven vocational training aligned with traditional and non-traditional sectors.
- Facilitate holistic development through modules on health, nutrition, hygiene, financial literacy, life skills and legal awareness.
- Promote employability, self-employment and forward linkages such as internships, apprenticeships and job opportunities.
- Strengthen gender-inclusive skilling and create a safe, supportive training environment.
- Bridge the gap between education and livelihood, particularly for girls in underserved and remote areas.

Economy

4^th Cooperative Mela 2025

Inaugurated in – Assam.
Organised by – Cooperation Department, Assam, under the guidance of the Ministry of Cooperation.
Aim – To showcase the strength, diversity, and potential of the cooperative movement in Assam.
Significance – It aligns with national vision of "Sahkar Se Samriddhi" (Prosperity through Cooperation) is transforming into a vibrant reality.
It highlighted the establishment of the Ministry of Cooperation in 2021 as a historic step, providing the necessary institutional impetus and a clear blueprint for an all-round, world-class cooperative system in India by 2047.

Environment

Green Hydrogen Pilot Project at Chidambaranar Port

Objective –
- To create a bunkering facility for Green Hydrogen or its derivatives to support the phased development of Green Fuel utilization by demonstrating it in the shipping sector.
- It supports vessels operating on international and domestic sea routes by providing refuelling facilities for green fuels.
- The expected outcomes of this project include a substantial reduction in CO2 emissions and creation of numerous direct and indirect job opportunities in manufacturing and storage of green fuel and related services.

Indian Parliament Attack 2001

INAS 335 (OSPREYS)

It is 2^nd MH 60R helicopter squadron, INAS 335 (Ospreys) at INS Hansa, Goa.
Commissioned by – Indian Navy.
Features – The advanced weapons, sensors and avionics suite make the helicopter a versatile and capable asset for the Indian Navy, offering enhanced capabilities to address conventional as well as asymmetric threats.
Fully integrated with fleet operations and has proven its worth on numerous occasions.
Significance – It marks a pivotal moment in the Indian Navy’s continued efforts towards modernisation and capability enhancement.
