National Post Day

  • Annually celebrated on – 10th October.
  • Extension of – World post day.
  • Aim – To mark the role played by the Indian postal department in over 150 years.

World Postal Day

  • Annually celebrated on – 9th October.
  • Declared by – Universal Postal Union (UPU) Congress held in Tokyo, Japan in 1969.
  • Commemorate to – The anniversary of the establishment of the UPU in 1874 in the Swiss Capital, Bern.
  • Theme 2025 – #PostForPeople: Local Service. Global Reach.

Indian postal service

  • Introduced by – British.
  • Founded in – 1854 by Lord Dalhousie.
  • Currently functions under – Ministry of Communications.
  • Services provided -
    • It delivers mail, remits money in the form of money orders and discharges government services such as payment of pensions to senior and retired citizens.
    • Small savings schemes, life insurance coverage under Postal Life Insurance and Rural Postal Life Insurance.
    • Wages under MGNREGA is also distributed through post offices.
  • Postal zones & circles – India has 23 postal circles and 9 postal zones including Army Post Office.
  • It follows a 6-digit PIN Code system, which was introduced in 1972.

NAMASTE Scheme

Distribution of sanitation kits and Ayushman cards under NAMASTE Scheme.

  • NAMASTE – National Action for Mechanised Sanitation Ecosystem.
  • Launched in – 2023, by Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment with Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
  • Objective – To formalize and rehabilitate the persons engaged in hazardous cleaning of sewer and septic tanks.

 iGOT Karmayogi

  • iGOT – Integrated Government Online Training Karmayogi platform, is a part of Mission Karmayogi.
  • Launched in – 2022, by Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions.
  • Aim – To serve as the digital backbone of the mission, providing a comprehensive learning ecosystem accessible to civil servants across India.

 23rd Edition of Bharat Telecom 2025

  • Organised by – Telecom Equipment and Services Export Promotion Council (TEPC).
  • Delegates from – 30+ countries.
  • Aim – To serve as a dynamic platform for potential buyers and stakeholders from across the globe to explore India’s growing telecom ecosystem.

  • Established in – 2009, under the ambit of Foreign Trade Policy (FTP).

  • Aim – To bring together innovators, policymakers, central bankers, regulators, investors, academicians, and industry leaders from around the world.
  • Participants – Monetary Authority of Singapore, Deutsche Bundesbank of Germany, Banque de France, and Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA).

Fintech Convergence Council (FCC)

  • A dedicated fintech committee under the Internet and Mobile Association of India.
  • Established in – 2017.
  • Objectives 
    • To advocate for the fintech ecosystem by facilitating meaningful dialogue between policymakers, regulators, and industry stakeholders.
    • To promote the penetration of financial services throughout India.
    • To emphasize innovation and collaboration, driving regulatory discussions and supporting national goals and regulatory frameworks.

3rd Edition of Purple Fest

  • Organized by – State Government’s Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities.
