Abhidhamma Divas

  • Observed on – The full moon day of Śharada Pūrṇimā on 6–7 October 2025 at Gautam Buddha University, Greater Noida.
  • Celebrated by – International Buddhist Confederation (IBC), with Gautam Buddha University (GBU), Antarrashtriya Baudh Shodh Sansthan, and Ministry of Culture.
  • Commemorates to – The occasion when the Buddha preached the Abhidhamma to the gods of Tavatimsa Heaven, led by his mother Mahamaya, and later shared it with his disciple Arahant Sariputta.
  • Organized the International Conference on the theme - “The Relevance of Abhidhamma in Understanding Buddhist Thought: Text, Tradition and Contemporary Perspectives”
    • To explore the philosophical, ethical, and psychological dimensions of Abhidhamma and its relevance in the modern context.
  • Aim – To deepen understanding of Buddhist thought.

Government of India recently unveiled the logo of the India-AI Impact Summit 2026.

  • Selected through – Logo Design Contest, hosted on the MyGov platform.
  • Reviewed by – Emerging Technologies team under MeitY.
  • Features – Ashoka Chakra, Symbolising Ethical Governance, Justice, Constitutional Values and India’s Leadership in Responsible AI Innovation.
  • Symbolism in represents
    • A blend of tradition (Ashoka Chakra),
    • Innovation (neural network flares),
    • Diversity (color gradient), and clarity (typography).
    • Designed to communicate the vision and values of the Summit.

AI Summit logo

India-AI Impact Summit 2026

  • It is an ambitious, future-focused global gathering announced by Prime Minister of India, at the France AI Action Summit.
  • Hosted by – India in New Delhi on February 19-20, 2026.
  • Nodal ministry – Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
  • Objectives –
    • To bridge the Global AI Divide through concrete multilateral action.
    • To ensure that the transformative potential of AI results in strengthening communities, protecting the planet, and propelling equitable, sustainable advancement.
    • To emphasis on democratizing access to AI resources, advancing innovation that reflects diverse local contexts, embedding environmental priorities into AI design and models, and promoting systems that are safe, trusted, transparent, and human-centric.

Economy

Securities Transaction Tax (STT)

Supreme Court decides to examine constitutional validity of Securities Transaction Tax.

  • STT – It is a direct tax levied on the purchase and sale of securities transacted on recognized stock exchanges in India.
  • Introduced in – 2004.
  • Governed by – Securities Transaction Tax Act (STT Act).
  • Benefits – Prevents Tax evasion & discourage speculative trading.

IFSC Code Registration

  • New auto-approval system – The system will automatically approve requests for registration of the same incentive bank account and IFSC code for a particular Importer Exporter Code (IEC) at multiple Customs locations, provided the same combination has already been approved at any one location.
  • Introduced by – Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC).
  • Objectives –
    • To enhance swift processing of bank account and IFSC code approval requests,
    • To simplify the registration process at multiple ports,
    • To ensure faster and seamless credit of export incentives into exporters’ bank accounts.
    • To enhance overall trade efficiency.

Defence

Indian Radio Software Architecture (IRSA) standard 1.0

  • IRSA – It is a comprehensive software specification for Software Defined Radios (SDR), defining standardized interfaces, Application programming interfaces (APIs), execution environments, and waveform portability mechanisms.  
  • Released by – Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), with Integrated Defence Staff (IDS) & Tri-Services.
  • Aim – To ensure waveform portability, SDR Interoperability, Certification and Conformance in military communications.
  • Significance – It represents a defining step in India’s journey toward self-reliance in defence communication technologies.
  • It embodies the vision of building indigenous, interoperable, and future-ready SDR solutions which is designed in India, for India and ready for the world.

Miscellaneous

Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM)

The government is likely to extend the deadline for PM-KUSUM scheme once again.

  • Launched in – 2019, by Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
  • 3 components –
    • Component A – Installation of 10,000 MW of solar capacity by installing small solar power plants.
    • Component B – Installation of 14 lakh off-grid standalone solar-powered agriculture pumps.
    • Component C – Solarisation of 35 lakh grid-connected agriculture pumps.
  • Objective – To provide energy and water security to farmers, enhance their income, de-dieselize the farm sector, and reduce environmental pollution.
  • Significance – Aligns with increasing the share of installed capacity of electric power from non-fossil-fuel sources to 40% by 2030 as part of Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDCs).

Nilgiri Tahr Day 2025

  • Observed on – 7th October
  • Celebrated by – Tamil Nadu Forest Department.
  • Commemorate to – E.R.C. Davidar, a pioneer in Nilgiri Tahr research and conservation.
  • Aim – To elaborate on the pivotal role played by the species of wild goat in formation of rivers that feed reservoirs to store water for drinking purposes and agriculture.

Nilgiri Tahr

  • Nilgiri Tahr – It is the state animal of Tamil Nadu.
  • Its cultural and ecological significance have been documented and written in the Tamil Sangam Literature, viz., Silappathigaaram and Seevagasinthamani, as early as 2000 years ago.
  • Endemic to – Western Ghats
  • Legally protected under –
    • Endangered species in IUCN Red List.
    • Schedule I of Wildlife (Protection) Act of India, 1972.

93rd Indian Air Force Day 2025

  • Observed on – 8th October, to commemorate the establishment of the Indian Air Force (IAF) was formed in 1932.
  • Aim – To honour courage, sacrifice, and bravery of Indian Air Force.
  • Theme – It will be announced soon which is centring on the force’s contribution to Operation Sindoor.
