Replacement of Old Trucks and Buses in Delhi-NCR

DICV recently joins scheme to provide discounts for the replacement of old trucks and buses in Delhi-NCR.

DICV – Daimler India Commercial Vehicles.
- It provides an 8 % discount on the ex-showroom price on trucks and buses purchased under the scheme.
- For electric vehicles, par with discount applicable to an Internal Combustion Engine vehicle of the equivalent category.
Additional benefits – In addition to 8%
- Central Government provide 5% interest subvention and fixed monthly fuel vouchers for a period of 5 years.
State Governments provide up to 100% concession on motor vehicle tax for a period of 10 years and waiver of registration fees.
Significance – Signed companies have a combined market share of 85% marks successful implementation of the scheme.

Vande Mataram Camp

Initiative by – Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports
Through – MY Bharat platform.
Organized in – Kolkata, West Bengal (1^st camp).
Features –
- Immersive seven-day residential camps.
- 150 participants drawn from six different states (with mandatory representation from the Northeast).
- At least 50% participation from women and socially disadvantaged groups.
Age group –15 to 29.
Objectives –
- National integration.
- Constitutional values.
- Youth leadership.
Significance – The camps are aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.

GTE Exemption List of Medical Devices

Department of Pharmaceuticals Invites Stakeholder Comments on Proposed GTE Exemption List of Medical Devices recently.

This list lets governments bypass local-content mandates to import critical medical tech when domestic production falls short.
Current List – contains 354 high-end medical devices valid until March 2027.
- Includes 3T Digital PET/MR systems and Advanced High Energy Linear Accelerators (LA).
Completely exempt –
- Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps (IABP).
- Cardiopulmonary Bypass Machines.
- Pacemakers (MRI Conditional).
Objective – To ensure patients retain access to critical healthcare equipment not yet manufactured locally.

Recently, a member of parliament released first specialized el niño advisory for maritime operator.

Released by – Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services.
Objective – To study possible impacts of the ongoing El Nino on the Maritime Sectors.

Atmospheric event - El Nino event continues to develop and peak in winter.
- Sea surface temperature in Indian Ocean will be higher.
Environmental impacts – Increased bleaching of coral reefs.
- More episodes of marine heat waves.
- Reduction in the fish catch (particularly sardine and mackerel species) due to migration of fish.
- Fish may not reach the desired sizes.
- Increased coastal erosion and flooding in east coast of India.
