Why in News?

The Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is set to launch the E-PRAAPTI portal to track inoperative accounts.

  • E-PRAAPTI – EPF (Employees Provident Fund) Aadhaar-Based Access Portal for Tracking Inoperative Accounts.
  • Purpose – A dedicated digital platform to facilitate identification, tracking, Unique Account Number (UAN) linking, and activation of old EPF accounts.
  • Launched by – Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO)

Key Features

  • Aadhaar-based authentication – It will provide a streamlined Aadhaar-based authentication mechanism for secure access.
  • Profile updating & UAN linking – It will enable members to securely access their old EPF account, which may not have a Universal Account Number (UAN) linked with it, and activate dormant accounts and update profiles.
  • Phase 1 – Member ID–based rollout, which helps members with old account details.
  • Phase 2 – The scope will be expanded to include members who may not be able to recall or access their old members’ IDs.
  • Reduced manual intervention – This platform is expected to reduce manual intervention, minimise documentation, and enhance transparency and efficiency.
  • Transition – The existing portal will shut down for 1-2 days to enable migration of the existing system to the new system.

Performance Highlights (2025–26)

  • Claims settled – 8.31 crore claims in 2025-26, compared to 6.01 crore in 2024–25.
  • Advance/partial withdrawals – 5.51 crore claims, revealing the ease of access to PF accounts, enabling members to draw upon their savings to meet their needs.
  • Auto-mode processing – 71.11% of advance claims were processed within 3 days (up from 59.19%), minimising manual intervention.
  • Ease of filing – 6.68 crore members were able to file their claims without the hassle of uploading the cheque leaf image.
