India's fuel exports fall to lowest since 2022
Recently India's exports of refined petroleum products fell to lowest level since October 2022.
- A key factor for decline – planned maintenance at Reliance Industries' Jamnagar refining complex.
- This complex is India's largest refinery and a major exporter of refined fuels.
- Other reasons – adjusted product yields to increase production of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for the domestic market.
- Reduced output of petrol and diesel by an estimated 80,000 bpd.
- The shift underscores – how refinery maintenance, evolving fuel demand patterns and policy considerations are reshaping India's refined product trade flows.

Millets
These are drought-resistant crops, naturally resilient, require less water, and can perform well in marginal environments where other crops may struggle.
- India is the world’s largest producer of millets with a share of 42.75% of world’s production (FAO, 2023).
- These are also known as ‘nutritious cereals’.
- Indian millets are nutritionally superior to wheat and rice due to their richness in protein, vitamins, and minerals.
- Top producing states in India – Rajasthan is the largest producer among all states, followed by Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, and Maharashtra.

Flex-fuel vehicles (FFVs)
India has recently launched E85 fuel, a high-ethanol blend designed for flex-fuel vehicles recently.
- FFVs - are alternative fuel cars with internal combustion engines modified to run on varying blends of petrol and ethanol (ranging from E20, E85, to pure E100).
- Dual-Fuel capability – They run on conventional petrol, pure ethanol, or any blend of the two, using the exact same fuel tank and engine.
- Smart sensors – An ethanol sensor automatically detects the fuel blend, allowing the engine control unit (ECU) to dynamically adjust fuel injection and spark timing for optimal performance.
- Hardware upgrades – Because pure ethanol is corrosive and absorbs moisture, FFVs are built with reinforced, ethanol-compatible fuel systems, upgraded fuel pumps, and larger fuel injectors
