National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA)

Why in news?

The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs successfully concluded the 3^rd National Conference on NeVA in New Delhi.

• NeVA – It is an initiative to digitize and streamline legislative processes across all 36 State & UT Legislatures through a unified platform.
• It embodies the vision of ‘One Nation – One Application’.
• It is one of the 44 Mission Mode Projects (MMPs) under the Digital India Program.
• Aim – To ensure that the functioning of all State Legislatures paperless and integrating all Legislative Houses on a single digital platform.
• Nodal Ministry – Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs (MoPA).
• Funding – Adopts a centrally sponsored funding model, approved by Public Investment Board (PIB).

Features

• Host – It is deployed on NIC Cloud, MeghRaj which helps to conduct Legislative Business of the House.
• It is a device neutral & member centric application created to equip them to handle diverse House Business smartly.
• List of services – Rules of procedure, list of business, notices, bulletins, bills, member contact details, starred/unstarred questions and answers, papers laid, committee reports etc.

mNeVA – A user-friendly Mobile App of NeVA, has made information on the conduct of business in Legislatures accessible anytime, anywhere to everyone.

• Partnering with – BHASHINI & MeITY, it also integrates AI/ML-based real-time translation services, available in 23 languages to ensure linguistic inclusivity.
• Progress – Till now, 28 State Legislatures have signed MoU & 20 Houses have transformed themselves into Digital Legislature completely.
