Why in news?

Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (IEPFA) organizes an Investor education and protection workshop for rural women SHGs.

  • IEPFA – For the administration of the Investor Education and Protection Fund of the Government of India.
  • Established – On 7th September, 2016, under section 125 of the Companies Act, 2013.
  • Nodal Ministry – Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
  • Objective – For promoting investor education, awareness, and protection.
  • Responsibility – It manages the Investor Education Protection Fund (IEPF), makes refunds of shares, unclaimed dividends, matured deposits/debentures etc., to investors, and promotes awareness among investors.
  • Key Initiatives to promote investor education
    • Niveshak Shivir – A series of outreach programs & camps in cities with high volumes of unclaimed investments, it offers in-person assistance to investors for claiming their dues, updating details like KYC, nominations, etc.
    • "Saksham Niveshak" Campaign – A 100-day campaign, empowering shareholders with awareness on dividend claims, KYC, and nomination updates.
    • Integrated Portal – A unified digital platform to streamline claim processes and enhance accessibility for both investors and companies.

  • Collaboration with – National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER), SEBI, Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI), and Haryana State Rural Livelihood Mission (HSRLM).

  • Theme - “Viksit Bharat ke path par Saksham Naari”
  • Aim – To promote financial awareness, safe investment practices, and economic empowerment among rural women.
  • It emphasized IEPFA’s flagship initiatives—Niveshak Didi and Niveshak Shivir—which equip women with the knowledge to save, invest wisely, and safeguard themselves from financial frauds.
