  • Key new frameworks

  • Significance – It marks a decisive step toward a resilient, interoperable, and future-ready telecom cyber security framework that balances innovation, privacy, and national security.

3rd edition of District Collectors’ Peyjal Samvad

  • Conducted by – Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation.
  • Theme – “From Grassroot to Forefront”.
  • Focused on – Real-time service delivery performance, infrastructure functionality, source sustainability, water quality concerns, and last-mile governance, with district presentations providing data-backed insights rather than procedural updates.
  • 4 Phase Commissioning Framework –
    • Pre-Commissioning Documentation – As-built drawings, defect assessment, design compliance.
    • System Testing – Pressure testing, water quality verification, disinfection, flow and capacity testing.
    • Trial Operations – 7-14 days of continuous evaluation under real conditions.
    • Final Documentation – Commissioning reports, manuals, certifications, and digital integration into platforms such as Jal Jeevan Mission Water Quality Management Information System (JJM-WQMIS) and PM Gati Shakti.

India to Chair International IDEA – 2026.

  • International IDEA is an intergovernmental organization (IGO) with a mandate to support sustainable democracy worldwide.

  • Aim – To work with local communities, democracy practitioners and partner organizations all over the world.

3rd CEPA Joint Committee Meeting

  • Held in – New Delhi.
  • Convened between – India and UAE.
  • Growth rate – It crossed USD 100.06 billion in FY 2024–25, reflecting a robust increase of 19.6%.
  • It reaffirms the UAE’s position as one of India’s key trading partners.
  • Comprehensive review on – Market access issues, data sharing, allocation of Gold TRQ, anti-dumping matters, services, Rules of Origin, BIS licensing etc.
  • Aim – To strengthen trade facilitation, regulatory collaboration, data sharing and convening of Services Subcommittee meeting.

2nd Non-intrusive Usage of Data to Guide and Enable (NUDGE) Initiative

  • Launched by – Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT).
  • Intimation campaign – SMSs and emails will be issued from 28th November 2025 to such taxpayers, advising them to review and revise their returns on or before 31st December 2025 to avoid penal consequences.
  • Objectives – To facilitate correct reporting in Schedule Foreign Assets (FA) and Foreign Source Income (FSI) in ITRs.
  • Accurate and complete disclosure of foreign assets and income is a statutory requirement under the Income-tax Act, 1961, and the Black Money (Undisclosed Foreign Income and Assets) and Imposition of Tax Act, 2015.
  • Significance – It aligns with the vision of Viksit Bharat, fostering accountability, transparency and a culture of voluntary compliance.

Textiles Focused Research, Assessment, Monitoring, Planning and Start-up (Tex-RAMPS) Scheme

  • Launched by – Ministry of Textiles.
  • Aim – To strengthen research, innovation and competitiveness in textiles sector.

Science

Geranium Waste into Biochar

Geranium leaf waste (both from pre and post oil extraction), which is a mostly discarded byproduct, can be upcycled into a value-added material.

  • Research by – University of Hyderabad.
  • Designed to – Transform Geranium plant material into biochar, a carbon-rich product that improves soil and stores carbon.
  • Biochar contained about 65% carbon and useful minerals, giving it strong soil-boosting qualities.
  • Advantages –
    • The process is low-cost and energy-efficient, making it attractive for farmers.
    • Abundant Geranium waste could reduce environmental impact and cut production costs.
    • It promotes a circular bioeconomy while improving crop yields across many regions in India.

Biochar

  • Biochar is an organic material produced through the pyrolysis of biomass, a process that involves heating organic matter in the absence of oxygen.

  • Pyrolysis – It occurs at temperatures ranging from 300 to 700 degrees Celsius (572 to 1292 degrees Fahrenheit), which transforms the biomass into a charred substance that retains its structure and nutrients.
  • Historical Context
    • It uses dates back thousands of years, with its most notable historical application found in the Amazon Basin.
    • Indigenous tribes created "terra preta," or "black earth," by adding charcoal to the soil, which significantly improved its fertility.
