GI Tagged Tribal Art Workshop & Exhibition – Cultural Extravaganza

  • Held at – New Delhi.
  • Inaugurated by – National Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS), Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
  • Aim – To celebrate and promote India’s Geographical Indication (GI)-tagged tribal art traditions.

Young Stellar Objects (YSO)

Recently, NASA’s Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) and its extended mission NEOWISE, have captured one of the largest and most detailed mid-infrared variability catalogs of young stellar objects (YSOs).

  • YSO – These are stars in the earliest stages of their lives where stars stably fuse hydrogen in their cores.
  • This is the stage before the stars enter the main sequence of what is called the Hertzsprung-Russell diagram (a plot showing stars in various stages of evolution based on their temperature and brightness).
  • Formation – It forms from the collapse of dense molecular clouds, giant cold regions in space rich in gas and dust.
  • Reason for collapse – It can be triggered by various events such as nearby supernova explosions, stellar radiation, or turbulence in the interstellar medium—that cause local over-densities and gravitational instability.

Hayli Gubbi volcano

Recently, eruption of Hayli Gubbi volcano in Ethiopia has led to some disruption in airline schedules in various countries, including India.

  • It is a shield volcano in Afar, Ethiopia, part of the Erta Ale Range.
  • Trouble – Ash clouds have drifted over various countries, including Yemen, Oman, Pakistan, and parts of India.

Rupee is Asia’s Worst Performing Currency

  • Worst Performance of Rupee – 4.3% depreciation against USD (Jan-Dec 2025).
  • Probability to further slide – It may slide to 90 against USD if U.S. trade deal doesn't happen.
  • Reasons for Depreciation –
    • Capital Outflows
    • Global Dollar Strength
    • U.S. 50% tariff on India hurt exports.
    • High precious metal prices (spike in gold prices).

  • Held in – Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh
  • Hosted by – Government e-Marketplace, Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
  • Aim – To strengthen digital public procurement capabilities across State departments and enable buyer organisations to make more effective use of GeM’s ecosystem, features and workflows.

SIDDHI 2.0

  • SIDDHI – Scientific Innovation in Drug Development, Healthcare & Integration.
  • It is a national industry research interface platform to accelerate evidence-based Ayurvedic product development.
  • Launched in – Vijayawada, by Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS).
  • Highlights – New CCRAS digital and literary initiatives unveiled to boost quality, regulation and global competitiveness of Ayurveda.
  • Aim – To strengthen research-driven innovation in Ayurveda pharma sector.

Security

SURYAKIRAN

  • It is the 19th edition of bilateral exercise between Indian Army and Nepalese Army.
  • Held at – Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand.
  • Aim – To jointly rehearse conduct of Sub Conventional operations under Chapter VII of United Nations Mandate.
  • Scope – To strengthen battalion-level synergy in Jungle Warfare, Counter-Terrorism Operations in Mountainous Terrain, Humanitarian Assistance & Disaster Relief (HADR), Medical Response, Environmental Conservation, and Integrated Ground–Aviation Operations.
  • Focus on – To incorporate niche and emerging technologies, including
    • Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), drone-based ISR,
    • AI-enabled decision support tools,
    • unmanned logistic vehicles and armoured protection platforms.
  • To refine and adapt Tactics, Techniques and Procedures for operating in counter terrorism environment aligned to prevailing global dynamics.

Science

Skyroot’s Infinity Campus

  • It is a state-of-the-art facility spread across 200,000 square feet workspace.
  • Inaugurate in – Hyderabad.
  • To be unveil 1st orbital rocket – Vikram-I, with capability to launch satellites to orbit.
  • Aim – To design, develop, integrate and test multiple launch vehicles, with a capacity to build one orbital rocket every month.

Skyroot

  • It is India’s leading private space company.
  • Founded by – Pawan Chandana and Bharath Dhaka, both alumni of Indian Institutes of Technology and former scientists of ISRO turned entrepreneurs.
  • Private Rocket – In November 2022, it launched its sub-orbital rocket, Vikram-S, becoming the 1st Indian private company to launch a rocket to space.
  • Significance – The rapid rise of private space enterprises is a testament to the success of the transformative reforms carried out by the Government.

Safran Aircraft Engine Services India (SAESI) Facility

  • SAESI – It is Safran’s dedicated Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility for LEAP (Leading Edge Aviation Propulsion) engines, which power the Airbus A320neo and Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.
  • Located at – GMR Aerospace and Industrial Park, Special Economic Zone (SEZ), Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad.
  • Designed to – Service up to 300 LEAP engines annually.
  • Key policy initiatives of the government — GST reforms in 2024, MRO Guidelines 2021, and the National Civil Aviation Policy 2016, have simplified operations for MRO providers by rationalizing tax structures and reducing royalty burdens.
  • Significance – It is not only one of the largest global aircraft engine MRO facilities but also the 1st time, a global engine OEM (original equipment manufacturer) has set up an MRO operation in India.
  • It aligns with the goal of Aatmanirbharta in aviation sector.
