National Commission for Homoeopathy (NCH)

  • NCH – It is a statutory body under the National Commission for Homoeopathy Act, 2020.
  • Under – Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India,
  • Regulates – homeopathic medical education and practice across the country.
  • Replaced and superseded – the erstwhile Central Council of Homoeopathy (CCH).
  • Responsible for – ensuring access to high-quality, affordable homeopathic medical education, maintaining ethical standards, and handling a centralized registration system.
  • The NCH carries out its primary responsibilities through three specialized autonomous boards:
    • Homoeopathy Education Board (HEB)
    • Medical Assessment and Rating Board for Homoeopathy (MARBH)
    • Board of Ethics and Registration for Homoeopathy (BERH)

Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR)

Recently, DGTR Organises Media Briefing on Trade Remedy Measures and Fair-Trade Practices.

  • DGTR is India's apex, national authority responsible for administering trade defensive measures to protect the domestic economy from unfair global trade practices.
  • Functioning as – an attached office under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (currently headed by Shri Amitabh Kumar).
  • Ensures – a level playing field for domestic producers in compliance with World Trade Organization (WTO) guidelines.
  • Primary role – to investigate market distortions and recommend corrective action. It focuses on three core pillars i.e,
    • Anti-Dumping Investigations
    • Countervailing Duty (CVD) Cases
    • Safeguard Measures

Yuva Sangam

  • It is a youth exchange program.
  • Launched by – Government of India
  • Under the – Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) initiative.
  • Focuses – on educational and cultural exposure tours for youth.
  • Age Group – Open to individuals aged 18 to 30.
  • Target audience – Primarily aimed at undergraduate and postgraduate students from Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs).
  • It also accommodates off-campus youth, NSS/NYKS volunteers, and young professionals.
  • Selection – handled by nodal HEIs.

DigiLocker Experiences Massive Expansion

The Digilocker has successfully onboarded 68 Electricity Distribution Companies (DISCOMs) and Power Departments across the country recently.

  • The Electricity Distribution utilities are now live for Millions of Consumers Nationwide.
  • It allows – to securely access their digital electricity bills directly within the DigiLocker app.
  • Participating entities – state power distribution companies, municipal electricity departments and private distribution utilities.
  • Consumers can retrieve their latest bills digitally whenever required.

Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0

Recently, Reform Linked MoUs signed with Manipur and Bihar under Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0.

  • Extended to – mission extended to December 2028 to ensure 100% functional tap water saturation across all 19.36 crore rural households.
  • Focus – shifts from just building pipe infrastructure to a utility-based service delivery model for long-term, reliable water supply.
  • Introduces – the Sujalam Bharat Digital Framework for tracking and mandates that Gram Panchayats handle their own local operation before certification.

International Relations and Issues

Marshall islands  

World Bank recently approved an additional US$9 million in financing to help the Republic of the Marshall Islands.

  • The Republic of the Marshall Islands is a sovereign Micronesian island nation.
  • Located – central Pacific Ocean,
  • Situated at – halfway between Hawaii and Australia.
  • Comprising 29 coral atolls and is renowned for its master navigation heritage, stunning wreck diving, and vulnerable low-lying geography.

  • These engineered traps exploit consumer psychology to maximize corporate profit.

National SC-ST Hub Scheme

The Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises is promoting inclusive entrepreneurship through the National SC-ST Hub Scheme.

  • Aimed at – capacity enhancement of entrepreneurs and promoting “entrepreneurship culture” amongst the SC-ST population.
  • Implemented by – the National Small Industries Corporation Ltd. (NSIC).
  • Supports – purchase of plant & machinery/equipment; capacity building & training, market linkage, facilitation for participation in exhibitions, credit, Udyam registration and GeM onboarding.

Gharials

In a reaffirming sign of river recovery, 31 gharial hatchlings have been born and released this breeding season in the Bagaha area along the Gandak River in Bihar.

  • It is a freshwater crocodile and the Chambal river hosts the largest wild population.
  • Diet – Predominantly piscivorous, gharials play a key role in regulating fish diversity.
  • The snout of the gharial is uniquely the thinnest and most elongated among all the crocodile species.
  • CITES – Appendix I
  • Wildlife Protection Act 1972 – Schedule I.
  • IUCN Red List – Critically endangered

Science

Methane Alert and Response System (MARS)

  • It is a UN satellite-based system that detects major methane super-emitters and notifies governments and companies to enable rapid mitigation
  • Operating under – UN Environment Programme (UNEP).
  • It tracks – emissions across the energy, coal, and waste sectors.
