Why in News?
India will participate in the 48th WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai, China, from September 22 to 27, 2026.
- India is set to compete in 63 out of 64 skill categories, represented by a contingent of approximately 70 competitors.
- For the first time, India will participate in 11 newly introduced skill categories.

- It demonstrates India's transition from traditional vocational skills to advanced technology, specialized services, and future-oriented competencies.
