- Health and medical travel emerged as the most expensive category of domestic travel.
- Rural households make more than twice as many overnight medical trips per 100 households compared to urban households.
- Hired vehicles are the most common mode of medical travel in both rural and urban areas.
- Health and medical travel accounts for approximately 30% of all overnight trips.
- Pilgrimage and religious travel represent about 48% of overnight trips, making it the largest category.
- Shopping travel is the second-highest expenditure category.
- Senior citizens aged 60 and above accounted for 32.3% of overnight health and medical trips.
