Why in News?

Recently, The CCRAS and CSU jointly launched a 15‑day workshop at Udupi to transliterate Ayurveda manuscripts.

CCRAS - Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences

It is an Apex body for the formulation, coordination, development and promotion of research on scientific lines in Ayurveda system of medicine.
Nodal Ministry – Ministry of Ayush.
Vision – Integrate ancient wisdom with modern technology to develop evidence‑based Ayurveda for diagnostics, prevention, treatment, and public health.

About the Initiative

This is part of a series of manuscript preservation programmes under the Gyan Bharatam Mission.
Objective – Build expertise among scholars to read, decipher, transliterate, and prepare rare unpublished Ayurveda texts for publication.
Scripts Covered – Tigalari & Old Kannada (Udupi workshop)
Earlier workshops focused on Karani/Devanagari (Puri, Odisha) and Vattezhuthu/Malayalam (Guruvayur, Kerala).
Collaborators – CCRAS, CSU and Sri Vadiraja Research Foundation.
Participants – Ayurveda colleges (Udupi, Hassan) and Sanskrit Gurukula students.
