Why in News?

Recently, The CCRAS and CSU jointly launched a 15‑day workshop at Udupi to transliterate Ayurveda manuscripts.

CCRAS - Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences

  • It is an Apex body for the formulation, coordination, development and promotion of research on scientific lines in Ayurveda system of medicine.
  • Nodal Ministry – Ministry of Ayush.
  • Vision Integrate ancient wisdom with modern technology to develop evidence‑based Ayurveda for diagnostics, prevention, treatment, and public health.

About the Initiative

  • This is part of a series of manuscript preservation programmes under the Gyan Bharatam Mission.
  • Objective – Build expertise among scholars to read, decipher, transliterate, and prepare rare unpublished Ayurveda texts for publication.
  • Scripts Covered – Tigalari & Old Kannada (Udupi workshop)
  • Earlier workshops focused on Karani/Devanagari (Puri, Odisha) and Vattezhuthu/Malayalam (Guruvayur, Kerala).
  • Collaborators – CCRAS, CSU and  Sri Vadiraja Research Foundation.
  • Participants – Ayurveda colleges (Udupi, Hassan) and Sanskrit Gurukula students.
