“Celebration of Intergenerational Bonds” Programme

  • Organized by – Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment.
  • Objectives –
    • To strengthen emotional, social, and cultural bonding between different generations.
    • To promote active and dignified ageing.
    • To further strengthen the spirit of affection, dialogue, cooperation, and mutual respect between generations.
  • Significance – It aligned with Viksit Bharat@2047, the national agenda on senior citizen welfare and fostering a harmonious, empowered, and inclusive India.

Polity & Governance

PESA Mahotsav

  • Held in – Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
  • Conducted by – Ministry of Panchayati Raj.
  • Commemoration of – The anniversary of the Panchayats Extension to Scheduled Areas (PESA) Act, 1996.
  • PESA Act – It empowers tribal communities by extending Panchayati Raj provisions to their scheduled lands, protecting them from being removed or alienated in their lands.
  • Objective – To spread awareness on the act and improving the capabilities of local level bodies in Scheduled Areas.

Security

Delivery of ‘ANJADIP’

  • It is 3rd of 8 ASW SWC (Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft).
  • Indigenously designed and built by – Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE), Kolkata.
  • Designed and constructed – As per the Classification Rules of Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) under a Public-Private-Partnership (PPP).
  • Reincarnation of – The erstwhile INS Anjadip, a Petya class Corvette decommissioned in 2003.
  • Name derives from – Anjadip Island located off coast of Karwar, Karnataka.
  • Features –
    • These ships at approx. 77m length, are the largest Indian Naval Warships propelled by Waterjets and are equipped with state-of-the-art Lightweight Torpedoes.
    • Indigenously designed Anti-Submarine Rockets and shallow water SONAR, enabling effective detection and engagement of underwater threats.
    • It will strengthen Navy’s Anti-Submarine, coastal surveillance and mine laying capabilities.

Science

Technical Project Meeting on traditional medicine (TM)

  • Held in – New Delhi.
  • Driven by – Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Donor Agreement signed between WHO and Ministry of AYUSH.
  • Objectives –
    • To set an intervention code on Traditional medicine.
    • To develop a dedicated Traditional Medicine module within the International Classification of Health Interventions (ICHI).
    • To lay the foundation for integrating Ayurveda, Siddha, and Unani (ASU) systems into global healthcare standards, with India providing both financial and technical support.
  • Significance – It aligns with the Prime Minister's vision, which emphasizes expanding the global reach of Ayush systems through scientifically validated approaches.

ISRO to Launch Mobile Broadband Satellite

ISRO's LVM3 M6 mission will launch the BlueBird Block-2 satellite for AST SpaceMobile.

  • Mission – ISRO's LVM3 M6.
  • Satellite – BlueBird Block-2.
  • Client – U.S.-based AST SpaceMobile (commercial agreement).
  • Objective –
    • To deploy a next-generation communication satellite.
    • To provide high-speed cellular broadband directly to smartphones globally, bridging connectivity gaps.
  • Notes –
    • BlueBird Block-2 - It will be the largest commercial communication satellite in Low Earth Orbit (LEO).
    • AST SpaceMobile - It builds a space-based cellular broadband network, partnered with over 50 mobile operators.

Chandrayaan-5 / LUPEX Mission

Japan’s space mission onboard the H3 rocket suffered failure at the 2nd stage after lift-off.

  • Joint lunar mission by – ISRO and JAXA (Japan’s space agency).
  • Scheduled for – 2027-28 launch on Japan's H3 rocket.
  • Objectives –
    • To study volatile materials in lunar south pole region.
    • To explore lunar water in Permanently Shadowed Regions (PSR)
    • To collect samples from lunar south pole.
