Why in news?

Recently India’s First functional PM MITRA (Pradhan Mantri Mega Integrated Textile Regional & Apparel) Park was inaugurated by PM Modi inaugurated

  • Location: Kakatiya Mega Textile Park (KMTP), Warangal.
  • Classified as Brown filed Project, making it eligible for specific development Capital support.
  • Cost of the Project Rs 1695.54
  • Faculties - Rigged with a Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) using Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) technology.
  • Workers quarters and a 10 MW Solar Power Plant.
  • Project is connected - Via Nagpur – Vijayawada Greenfield Expressway (NH -163G)  
  • Project Displays integration of schemes; for example, units like every top Textile Complex gets benefit from both PM MITRA infrastructure and the PLI (Production Linked Incentive) Scheme.

PM MITRA Scheme

  • GoalBased on the 5F Vision – Farm to fibre to factory to Fashion to foreign.
  • Objective To form world class infrastructure that Boosts FDI & Local investment and Modern technology.
  • Bringing every part of making clothes such as making thread, weaving fabrics, printing, coloring & Sewing all in one place.
  • Implemented by State & Central Government in a PPP mode through Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV)
  • Locations - 7 Parks approved in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra & Gujarat.

Contribution-

  • Brownfield ParkGOI Development Capital support of 30% of the cost of remaining Infrastructure ( Max Rs 200Cr)
  • Greenfield Park – GOI Development Capital support of 30% of the Project Cost ( Max Rs 500Cr)

Significant – Strengthening of textile value Chain.

  • Gender Inclusive rural Development by provide large scale employment for women.
  • Environmental sustainability Zero Liquid discharge (ZLD) technology address high water Pollution footprint usually linked with textile processing like dyeing & bleaching.
