Why in News?

Recently, Italy has become the country with the highest number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, this includes 55 cultural heritage sites and 6 natural heritage sites.

• UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization) – Grants World Heritage status to sites of Outstanding Universal Value (OUV).
• Recognition is given for cultural or natural importance, ensuring preservation for future generations.
