Draft Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) (2nd) Amendment Rules, 2025
- Issued by – Department of Consumer Affairs, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution.
- Objectives – To make it mandatory for e-commerce platforms to provide searchable and sortable filters based on the 'Country of Origin' for packaged commodities sold online.
- To enhance consumer empowerment and transparency in online shopping.
- Significance – The amendment directly supports the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Vocal for Local’ initiatives by making ‘Made in India’ products easily discoverable.
- It ensures a level playing field for Indian manufacturers, helping domestic products gain equal visibility alongside imported goods and encouraging consumers to choose locally made alternatives.

Exercise Malabar 2025
- Held at – GUAM (U.S. Island territory in Micronesia) in the Western Pacific.
- Aim – To reaffirm India's enduring partnership and its commitment to strengthening coordination, enhancing interoperability, and demonstrating a collective resolve to safeguard regional security.
- 2 phases –
- Harbour Phase – It features operational planning and discussions, alignment on communication protocols, familiarisation visits between participating nations, and sports fixtures.
- Sea Phase – Wherein ships and aircraft will take part in naval drills, focusing on joint fleet operations, anti-submarine warfare, gunnery serials and flying operations.

15th India-Vietnam Defence Policy Dialogue
- Held in – Hanoi.
- Aim – To expand and further deepen cooperation in important emerging areas like cyber security, real-time exchange of information, military medicine and exchange of experts, etc.
- Memorandum of Agreement – For Mutual Submarine Search, Rescue Support and Cooperation, establishing a framework for supporting and cooperating in submarine search and rescue operations.
- Significance – Vietnam holds a key position in India’s Act East Policy and is an important partner in India’s Indo-Pacific vision.

23rd National Maritime Search and Rescue Board Meeting
- Held in – Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
- Organised by – Indian Coast Guard (ICG).
- Representatives – Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, ISRO, INCOIS, Airports Authority of India and Directorate General of Shipping, among others.
- Objectives – To enhance inter-agency coordination and collaboration among stakeholders to strengthen India’s overall search and rescue (SAR) framework.
- To leverage technology and modern communication systems to improve operational efficiency and maritime safety standards.
- National SAR awards for 2023-24.
- MV He Yuan Shun 89 – A Panama-flagged vessel, received the award in the Merchant Vessel category
- Indian Fishing Boat Kedarnath Bhole was awarded in the Fishing Boat category
- ICG Ship Rajveer received the award for the Government-owned SAR Unit category
- Vessel Traffic System (VTS), Mumbai Port Authority and Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) were jointly felicitated in the Ashore Unit category.

11th Edition of Exercise MITRA SHAKTI-2025
- Held at – Foreign Training Node, Belagavi, Karnataka.
- Participant – RAJPUT Regiment (India) and GAJABA Regiment (Sri Lanka).
- Objectives –
- To jointly rehearse conduct of Sub Conventional Operations under Chapter VII of United Nations Mandate.
- To synergise joint responses during counter-terrorist operations.
- Features –
- Both sides will practice tactical actions such as raid, search and destroy missions, heliborne operations, etc.
- Army Martial Arts Routine (AMAR), combat reflex shooting and Yoga will also form part of the exercise curriculum.

- Held in – Chandigarh.
- Initiative by – Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Earth Science with Vijnana Bharati.
- Theme – “Vigyan Se Samruddhi: for Aatmanirbhar Bharat” is to celebrate and advance the spirit of science-led growth for a self-reliant and prosperous India.
- Aim – To engage creative and imaginative minds in India and across the globe to celebrate science through various programs and activities connected to the 5 pillars of Aazadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.
- Vision – Promotion of creativity in science, technology and innovation for prosperous India.

- Launched in – 2014, by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.
- Commemoration to – The birth anniversary of Marie Curie, the Nobel laureate whose research on radioactivity laid the foundational work for cancer therapy.
- Aim – To raise awareness about cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment in India.

ICFT-UNESCO Gandhi Medal
- Instituted at – 46th International Film Festival of India.
- Collaboration with – International Council for Film, Television and Audiovisual Communication (ICFT) Paris under the aegis of UNESCO.
- Aim – To celebrate films that embody the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi particularly non-violence, tolerance, and social harmony while promoting intercultural dialogue and peace.

10th Edition of the Global #MedSafetyWeek Campaign
The 2025 edition, marking its 10th anniversary, was the largest to date, with 130 organisations across 117 countries sharing messages in over 60 languages.
- 1st launched in – 2016, seeks to educate the public on why, how, and where to report suspected side effects
- Core message – “Everyone has a role to play in medicines safety. By reporting suspected side effects, you and I can help make medicines safer for everyone.”
- Important stakeholder – National Coordination Centre for the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI) including Adverse Drug Reaction (ADR) Monitoring Centres and Market Authorization Holders, also joined the effort to enhance awareness and encourage reporting of side effects through official channels.
- Aim – To raise awareness among patients, families, and healthcare professionals about the importance of reporting suspected side effects of medicines.
