Mountbatten Plan (June 3 Plan)

  • It was the final blueprint for the partition of British India into two independent dominions: India and Pakistan
  • Important Provisions
  • The partition of British India into two dominions – India and Pakistan.
  • The establishment of a Boundary Commission, chaired by Sir Cyril Radcliffe, to decide the international boundaries between the two countries.
  • The prohibition of any law enactment in the territories of the new dominions by the British Parliament.
  • The appointment of the Governor-General as a constitutional head until the new constitutions were formed.
  • Other – both Muslim league and Indian National Congress accepted the plan.

Internship under MoWCD

The Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) has invited applications for the August–September term recently.

  • About – The Programme is conducted in four terms during the financial year.

  • Purpose – to orient participants with the activities of the ministry.

MY Bharat has been awarded the Guinness World Records recently.

  • MY Bharat – flagship youth engagement platform of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports.
  • Aimed at – strengthening awareness and participation among young citizens in the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.
  • Recognised under Guinness title – “Most Users to Take an Online Quiz in One Week”
  • Significance – over 50.42 lakh youth representing all 28 States and 8 Union Territories participated.

Dismissal of plea for time-bound disposal of cases

Recently the supreme court dismisses plea seeking guidelines for time-bound disposal of cases.

  • The plea also sought formulation and implementation of a uniform national case flow management policy applicable to all courts in the country.

First World Yogasana Championship

Prime Minister has recently inaugurated First World Yogasana Championship In Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

  • Yoga is India's timeless gift to humanity! Uniting mind, body and spirit, it inspires a healthier, more harmonious world
  • Ahmedabad is a UNESCO World Heritage City.
  • Significance – Through this Championship, Yogasana will get new recognition as a Competitive Sport.

UNESCO World Heritage Cities Programme

  • Aims to – assist States Parties in the challenges of protecting and managing their urban heritage.
  • It is one of six thematic programmes formally approved and monitored by the World Heritage Committee.
  • The World Heritage List features two prominent, culturally rich cities in India i.e,
  1. Ahmedabad, Gujarat
  2. Jaipur, Rajasthan

World Heritage Committee

  • Meets – once a year.
  • Responsible – for the implementation of the World Heritage Convention.
  • Definesthe use of the World Heritage Fund and allocates financial assistance upon requests from States Parties.
  • Power – It has the final say on whether a property is inscribed on the World Heritage List.
  • Decides – on the inscription or deletion of properties on the List of World Heritage in Danger.

Neelkanth Mishra

The Economist Neelkanth Mishra has been appointed India's next Executive Director at the World Bank recently.

  • Approved by – the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC).
  • Term – serves three-year term from the date he assumes office
  • Represents – South Asian constituency that includes India, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Sri Lanka at the World Bank’s board.

The inaugural meeting of India-Zimbabwe Joint Defence Committee (JDC) took place recently in New Delhi.

  • Affirmed – commitment to deepen bilateral defence cooperation.

Arjuna awardee and former Asian Games medallist Balwinder passed away recently.
