Zero-Fatalities Program
- Initiative by – Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) in collaboration with the Save Life Foundation.
- Targets – 100 districts across 15 states, including Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Karnataka.
- The rationale for the program is that 63% of road fatalities occur outside National Highways.
- Local factors – Such as road design, law enforcement, and hospital preparedness are critical to reducing fatalities.
- Report 2023-24 – 89,000 deaths in the 100 targeted districts and identified 17,331 critical crash locations.
- Common types of crashes – It includes rear-end collisions (26%), head-on collisions (23%), and pedestrian incidents (23%).
- Program Framework
- Conduct engineering audits.
- Implement low-cost safety interventions.
- Enhance trauma care by improving ambulance response and first responder training.

International Solar Alliance (ISA)
India will continue to work with the International Solar Alliance (ISA) and support solar adoption and energy transition goals.
- The 125-member alliance was conceptualised on the sidelines of COP21 in Paris in 2015.
- Instituted by – Indian Prime Minister and President of France Francois Hollande.
- Objective – To unlock $1 trillion in solar investments by 2030 whilst reducing technology and financing costs relating to solar implementation.
- Note – At present, India holds the presidency of the alliance with France as the co-chair.

U.S – Withdrawals
On January 7, the United States issued an executive order to withdraw from 66 international organizations, including the Solar Alliance, which were described as “wasteful, ineffective or harmful.”
- Coverage – 31 United Nations entities and 35 non-UN bodies, thereby altering the United States' role in global governance.
- According to a White House fact sheet – These withdrawals will end American taxpayer funding and involvement in entities that advance globalist agendas over U.S. priorities.

Aditya-L1 observations have yielded new insights into the effects of intense solar storms on Earth's magnetic field.
- Source – ISRO study published in “The Astrophysical Journal” (December 2024).
- Event Analysed – Major space weather event occurring in October 2024.
- Key findings
- A turbulent region within the solar storm caused significant compression of Earth's magnetic field.
- This compression brought the magnetic field unusually close to Earth, thereby exposing geostationary satellites to increased risk.
- Currents in the auroral region became highly intensified, resulting in upper atmospheric heating and enhanced atmospheric escape.
