Tiruppur Kumaran

Prime Minister Narendra paid tribute to Tiruppur Kumaran on his birth anniversary.

  • He was freedom fighter and devoted follower of Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals.
  • Born on – 4th October, 1904, at Chennimalai.
  • Founded – Desa Bandhu Youth Association.
  • Contribution – On 10th January, 1932, he led a protest march in Tiruppur defying police restrictions and was fatally injured during a British police attack.
  • Even in his final moments, he held the national flag aloft without letting it touch the ground, earning him the title “Kodi Kaatha Kumaran".

Subramanya Siva

Prime Minister Narendra paid tribute to Subramanya Siva on his birth anniversary.

  • He was an eminent writer, Tamil patriotic poet and freedom fighter.
  • He actively involved in freedom struggle inspired by the speech of Sri Thahurkhan of Arya Samaj in Trivandrum in 1906.
  • Born on – 4th October 1884, at Vathalagundu, Madurai.
  • Established – “Dharma Paribalana samaj” in Trivandram in 1907.
  • Literary works – Ramanuja Vijayam & Madhva Vijayam.

Operation DigiScrap

DRI in Mumbai seized consignments valued at approximately Rs 23 crore of e-waste.

  • Conducted by – Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI).
  • Seized under – Section 110 of the Customs Act, 1962.
  • Import of old/used electronic components is prohibited under
    • Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) 2023,
    • E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022,
    • Electronics and IT Goods (Compulsory Registration) Order, 2021.
  • Aim – To prevent public health hazards, environmental damage, & unfair threats to the domestic electronics manufacturing sector.

Economy

Coal India’s First All-Women Operated Central Store Unit

  • Inaugurated at – South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL).
  • Launched under – Government of India’s Special Campaign 5.0.
  • Aim – To promote women’s leadership in core industrial sectors.

1st Commercial Coal Mine in Arunachal Pradesh

  • Launched at – Namchik-Namphuk.
  • Reserve capacity – 1.5 crore tonnes of coal.
  • Aim – To mark a new chapter of growth, energy security, and local prosperity.
  • Significane – It carries forward PM’s vision of EAST (Empower, Act, Strengthen, Transform), a guiding philosophy for every initiative in the Northeast.

Environment

"Namo Van" Biodiversity Park

Rajasthan’s 1st ‘Namo Biodiversity Park’ in Alwar was inaugurated.

  • Inaugurated by – Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
  • Aim – To enhance local greenery and contribute to cleaner air, while also promoting environmental awareness among visitors.
  • Significance – It marks an advancing Rajasthan’s green infrastructure and strengthening India’s broader commitment to biodiversity conservation and climate action.

Security

KONKAN-2025

First-ever joint exercise between HMS Prince of Wales and INS Vikrant in Western Indian Ocean.

  • It is a bilateral Exercise between Indian Navy & Royal Navy of United Kingdom.
  • 2 phases
    • Harbour phase – Professional interactions between naval personnel, cross-deck visits, sports fixtures, and cultural exchanges.
    • Sea phase – Complex maritime operational drills focusing on anti-air, anti-surface, and anti-submarine warfare, flying operations, and other seamanship evolutions.
  • Objectives – To reaffirms the shared commitment of both nations to ensuring secure, open, and free seas.
  • To exemplifies the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership outlined in the India-UK Vision 2035.

Androth

Indian Navy set to commission Androth.

  • It is a 2nd Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW-SWC).
  • Held at – Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam.
  • Built by – Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE), Kolkata.
  • Objecttives –
    • To enhance indigenous capability through innovative technologies and home-grown solutions.
    • To counter threats in littoral waters.
  • Significance – It is a testimony to India’s growing maritime self-reliance with over 80% indigenous content.

National-Level Defence Manufacturing Conference

  • It is a national-level conference on ‘Opportunities in Defence Manufacturing in the Country’.
  • Organised by – Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence (MoD).
  • Launched
    • Defence Exim Portal – Designed to streamline the process of issuing export and import authorisations.
    • Srijan DEEP (Defence Establishments and Entrepreneurs Platform) portal – A digital repository mapping the capabilities and products of Indian defence industries.
  • 2 key publications
    • Aerospace & Defence Sector Policy Compendium of States and Union Territories.
    • iDEX Coffee Table Book ‘Shared Horizons of Innovation’.
  • Aim – To bring together senior officials from the Departments of Industries of all States and Union Territories to discuss their crucial role in advancing India’s defence manufacturing ecosystem.

Regional Meeting with Southern Waqf Boards

  • It is a one-day regional meeting, held in Bengaluru.
  • Organized by – Ministry of Minority Affairs.
  • Participants from – Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana.
  • Part of – Ministry’s efforts under the Unified Waqf Management, Empowerment, Efficiency and Development (UMEED) Act, 2025.
