Sikkim Organic Conclave-cum-International Buyer Seller Meet

• Held in – Gangtok.
• Organized by – APEDA, in collaboration with the Government of Sikkim and IFOAM-Asia.
• Objectives – To promote organic exports, expand market access, build capacity among FPOs and exporters.
• To position Sikkim as an important contributor to India’s growing organic export sector.
• Note –
  • 2016 – Sikkim became India’s 1^st fully organic state, gaining recognition under APEDA’s export certification system.
  • 2018 – UN FAO honoured Sikkim with the Future Policy Gold Award for its leadership in organic agriculture.

World Wildlife Day

• Originated in – 2013, by United Nations General Assembly.
• Date commemorates – The signing of CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species).

• Objective – To raise awareness of wildlife’s value and threats such as habitat loss, illegal trade, and climate change.

• NIRANTAR – National Institute for Research & Application of Natural Resources to Transform, Adapt and Build Resilience.
• Launched by – Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC).
